Trade all races regardless of volatility?

I'm wondering if the more experienced members of the forum have a strategy for any type of race and hence are able to trade every race? Are there some races that you'd look to avoid?

I ask because I'm trading every race I can just to put myself in as many situations as possible to gain experience but there's times when the price jumps so much I just end up boycotting that particular race.

is it just me or have the last couple of days been particularly volatile?

Is this what to expect for the coming months?

I didnt trade this time of year last year so am not sure if this is the norm for the coming winter months or just a particularly poor monday and Tuesday?
