Question.
If I get a lay bet matched at -we'll say 1.36- and the actual lay price on the ladder is still at 1.44 . Is that a value lay bet?
Any bet is a 'value' bet if you win ( i.e make a profit )

If you mean the market is flush on both sides and price is now 1.44/1.45, then

On average, yes
In isolation, no

If it's a gappy market with a spread from 1.36 to 1.44 then assume no unless backtested otherwise

Anytime you can hedge for a profit, you have a value bet.

How have people found today's pre race markets?

Today especially has felt so slow with hardly any money in the markets at all

In a way I'm hoping its just me and you've all found it OK, but I'd be interested to hear others thoughts on the last few weeks especially

It's the first week of school holidays (kids at home for many), plus the opening day of the Olympics, not to mention the first 2 practice sessions of the Spa F1 weekend, so I imagine this has the attention of a few regulars. It certainly means I'm auto only today and this weekend.

I hadn't actually thought about the school holidays being a factor but it makes sense.
I understand that the pre race markets have been in constant decline compared to recent years but the last week or two have felt really weak and volatile at times comparatively speaking.

As I said it may well be just me as Ive gone from a really good few months to a bit of a downturn in the last couple of weeks and I'm just trying to find a reason and hopefully a remedy for it.

Thanks for the reply CS

There was a dead heat 2.25 Uttoxeter but at 2.50 the market is still open between those 2 that dead heated which confuses me unless there is a rare stewards enquiry over the jumps.

There shouldn't be a Stewards Enquiry - the official result is out on the results sites........?

Have Betfair forgotten about this market?

Betfair reopened the market for photo betting at 14:36:04.

The FPTP photo result was a dead-heat.

After the dead-heat was announced Stewards called an enquiry and Betfair accordingly reopened the market @ 14:45:48. Stewards revised the result by demoting Flic Ou Voyou from DH1st to 2nd due to interference after the final fence.

Yes - I read that now. Live and learn - don't necessarily trust the result which first appears coz it can be changed :o

This didn't affect me and I was OK but I do fret when stuff like this happens. I've watched the pics and I can't see interference. When the market was reopened as a '2 horse race' somebody was offering odds to backers on other runners at around 15 / 17. What's the point? Have some of these people got nothing to do?
