Interesting article that implies its not all is as it seems..

"A similar thing happened to the Namibian runner Christine Mboma. In Mboma case she grew up as a girl and a woman, found she was good at running, went into competition and discovered after being tested before the Tokyo Games that she was producing a large amount of testosterone, could not have children and would now live with this previously unknown condition.

She competed and won 200m silver in Tokyo but her subsequent ban from competition when World Athletics changed its rules feels odd in a certain light, a case of Sebastian Coe and pals taking it on themselves to define what a woman is allowed to be, not just on the outside but also on the inside. Mbomba, it could be argued, simply has an innate physical capacity, as Usain Bolt has.

This may or may not be the case with Lin. No one knows if she, like Mboma, is what elite sport calls a DSD athlete, which means a person with a different, less linear personal biology, that may convey certain performance advantages"

All these top sports people are freaks in some way compared with the population in general. And Coe insisting that Mboma had to take drugs to reduce her natural testosterone levels if she wants to compete just seems total bonkers.

Could easily be solved by a cheek swab sex test!

I think we should recognise that human bodies evolve in the womb.Things happen that form what we perceive as a male or female. It's really not about chromosomes or genitalia. For example, with females the uterus is in two parts and then fuses. But sometimes it doesn't.
It's a really tricky subject. We don;t all fit into the narrow definition of male/female out there.
My issue is with sportspeople that are definitely male or female but "identify" (usually as female) to gain an advantage.

I have to admit, like many, I don’t fully understand but it does throw up some issues:

- If he/she commits an offence then what prison do you send them to, male or female ?

- Regarding boxing, I believe the argument is some are showing very high levels of testosterone, leading to much more power. So, what weight division should they be put in ?

- How come this has only come up over the last 10 years or so. What’s changed. Personally, I never heard of this stuff when I was growing up, was it being hidden or ?

But, no idea who/how you going to come up with a universal set of rules.

What happens if a boxer’s opponents gets killed or brain damaged. The Olympic committee could get sued for millions etc.

Boxing is done by weight which directly links to how much power you can generate. But if your a lower weight but because of testosterone, generating power 2 or more weight divisions above yours then that very dangerous for your opponent.

Yes and didn’t allot of athletes get banned back then for taking performance enhancing steroids/drugs. Not a medical person but that could raise your testosterone levels.

Maybe there is a new drug around which is undetectable.

It’s such a shame, the UK can’t compete on an even footing for the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Shooting. It’s the bloody Olympics for fuck sack.

Not tricky at all.

99.99% of humans have either a male or female sexual organ. For the unlucky 0.01% go to chromosomes, XX = woman, XY = male.

As usual the church is way behind the science.

Mind its the same moronic mindset that says homosexuality is bad, lesbians don't exist & last time a looked at the bible it was still ok to sell your daughter into slavery.

I certainly couldn't find any reference's to chromosomes in the "good" book...

Am struggling to watch the dressage without thinking of horses being whipped to within an inch of their lives...

Something appears really rotten with this "sport" & it's not just the need to wear a cravat.
