tbh whilst banging everyone in jail maybe funny for you, think of the consequences of who are they releasing to make way for someone pushing a wheelie bin over, or a builder who probably had a few n got a bit carried away to make a political point?
I've been in jail it's not punishment there full of crime and planning ground for more crime on the outside. I was only in for a short while but it just builds up more resentment in people because they treat people like absolute crap inside again people will say good who cares but re-offending is through the roof.
When people come out, there's under resourced rehabilitation/employment support and a lot enter the benefits/social housing system as a result. Who pays for all this? The tax payer pays, plus when you jail someone who pays NI and Tax your taking revenue out the system so I don't understand peoples logic at laughing at having to stump even more money up time and time again instead of looking the root problem of rehabilitation and treatment in prison. Just banging people up left right and centre doesn't work and never has done, look at Scandinavia they've absolutely nailed it.
I do agree some crimes are that heinous that life in prison for peodo's, murderers rapists, terrorists I'd go as far capital punishment, I agree some crimes over the last week deserve jail but should we be remanding/jailing people for pushing wheelie bins over, shouting a few verbals, posting on facebook? I don't think so fine them, put a tag on them along with a curfew so they can get back to work.
