Parts of Russia being evacuated after thousands of Ukraine troops cross the border backed up by tanks and missiles…

O dear, what a shame, never mind.

Yes and I am old enough to remember it and loved it. Although, I appreciate now, its politically incorrect, like Step Toe & Son. Shame but I guess WE have to change or not... :D

Ditto. PC is correct IMO. But for us we get where it came from, a lot of hate. And a lot of that pre-pc was really very funny. Ah well. The nasty people have set the agenda and the reaction has meant nobody can say anything without a lawyer scrutinising it. Jeez. To be in a friendly place right now is a total joy. I am heading there next week in Scotland, and I can't wait tbh.

Ah, Scotland, very fond memories, yes i was shooting deer, on week trips. I guess that would upset some. But meat eaters need to know where their food comes from etc. Bute was my favourite retreat. No TV, Phone. A couple of books and long walks. Friendly local pub, even being the dreaded Englishman. :) o and a barmaid that, well, I will leave it there. 👍

The worst thing about Scotland is the midges (little bastards). Otherwise I love it. And me moving there is getting closer and closer.

He also runs the local gun club, so its free deer & goose shooting (keeps the local crofters happy).

Amazing. :)

An Englishman in Scotland, is that allowed. 🤔

Joking apart, I have very happy memories there. Always when I got back from deployments, went to Scotland for R&R.

Hope and know you will have a wonderful time. 👍

I got lost once in Gare Loch, freezing cold, heavy snow, should have known better with my training. But I love the outdoors, hence now in Canada. But that day was basically saved my Scotland mountain rescue team and a dog who seemed to know me. Wasn’t impressed by her over kisses at the time but apparently she knew where I was and her handlers couldn’t keep up with her. She ignored their commands to withdraw until she found me.

Scotland, people and that dog, amazing.

🤞

Putin has declared a state of emergency in Kursk. 8,000 people evacuated. Doctors being drafted into the area from all over Russia.

Spokesman for the White House said they had no prior knowledge of what Ukraine was planning and has reached out to Ukraine to assertain their objectives.

Personally I dont care, everyone on here knows my views. Fuck Putin and his armed forces, they had/have a choice like the ones who did a runner in March 2022.

Go Ukraine. Wish I was young enough to help.

I appreciate you know nothing about UK/Nato military doctrine.

Basically, it matters not what Putin, his advisers or Russia says. There are listening posts in Germany, Norway, Finland, Cyprus and a very sophisticated one in the UK owned and manned by the USA. The moment, a nuclear missile is launched, semi-auto and fully auto systems swing into place. Yes, some will strike Europe, the UK, the USA and Canada. But Russia will be blown off the global map. Putin, his advisors and armed forces know this. They sabre rattle and provoke upto a point. Russia would be hit by 3,200 nukes. Less than 5% of the population would survive the initial strikes, less than 3% after 48 hours and less than 1% after 12 months. Those that are left would face extreme heat/cold and organ failure. Putin knows this. There are no winners in a modern nuclear war. The planet, would basically come to a close.

I trained for nuclear and biological warfare. It’s not about winning, it’s about surviving day by day.

Within the UK, the PM, immediate advisors, leader of the opposition, King/Queen of England and around 12,000 armed forces have a procedure to follow. They will be safe. You and the rest will not. Your job will be to overcome and survive as best you can through something horrific.

The only country in the world that can fully protect 88% of its population is Finland. They built modern nuclear shelters with all the resources needed to keep that percentage safe for upto 18 months below ground.

But, I don’t think for one second Putin is that stupid to press the button.

Genuine question ... how much Novichok would you need to fatally contaminate an average size reservoir if that should be at all possible?

Ahh, thanks, it was just a thought. Is there any 'super poison' that can be used in water?
