Not for this event. A Finish competitor this year was 13. That was the point of ‘my back to school’ comment.

That was a joke, aimed at Jim's "whoa...". :)

I actually thought she was 13, but that must have been the last major event.

When I heard the oldest person in the Olympics (and from GB) was competing this afternoon I thought it was going to be in shooting or show jumping or something along those lines - I certainly was not expecting him to be in the men's skateboarding

Despite an amazing performance he only just missed out on a place in the final

Yes, I don't know what it is all about but he had a reputation as the first (or only) person wo have skateboarded through the White House! I have no idea. :)

I'm really amazed how jockeys manage to keep going into their fifties, in a sport that requires extreme fitness and agility. Piggott retired at 59, I think George Duffield was still riding when he was 60!

Ok. That's Joie de vivre. We all have our own version. But not many can express it like that. Look what I can do!!! Yippee!!

When it comes to the high jump (the lady’s) why do they all seem to put in 3 or 4 long bouncing strides before breaking into a ‘normal’ run-up?

Interesting point. Perhaps accelerating too early creates to much forward momentum. They do need speed, but they definitely need explosive upward energy. If you ran at it like a sprinter you wouldn't be able to overcome that horizantal energy.

I have no idea how they know where they are in the air.

But also why do the Chinese divers have sheets of ‘Elastoplast’ on their bodies?

Looks like they've scheduled to miss the first 15 minutes to watch a few idiots on kites.
