Today I ploughed through 45 pages of the Labour Manifesto and most of the genuine protesters concerns are addressed.
Whether they deliver it is moot. But yes 5 weeks is a ludicrous point to judge.
Lots of fgures. Lots of promises. Lots of reorganisation of regs, 130+ pages of thoughts. Only cast iron promise for me was 1.5 million homes during this Parliament. Good luck with that.

Speaking of 45 pages it's good to see the forum civil war simmering down :)

Community Shield kicks off tomorrow so these bored people will go back to sending monkey emojis to players instead and football will save the day.

That was my initial reaction. Michael did voice some important issues and I don't now think that the footy "firms" are relevent. It is about housing, employment rights, public services. So I think that coalition did achieve something. Setting fire to a motel hosting asylum seekers? My vocabulary is inadequate to describe my shame as a Brit that we have created these monsters. And we have created them.

Two Asian men have been jailed for their part in the violence. One of them was already serving a suspended sentence for a driving offence, the rest of which will be spent in jail. What a tit!

I must confess I was bricking it that something would kick off in an Asian area and it would spiral out of control.
But so far so good. Common sense and community has delivered a lull and hopefully an end to stupidity.

Police will be making more use of mounted patrols, evidence gatherers and facial recognition. They claim they're software works even when offenders wear masks.

I've never liked having FR cameras in supermarkets and railway stations, but if they can catch the odd rioter and put him away for a few years, weeks after the event, I'm willing to put up with them. :D
Shame they dont use them for those who dont pay their TV licence fees Derek.....

PS. Im only joking. :D
You mean those who don't pay Huw Edwards £200K for waiting to be convicted for creating child abuse images.

Busy, but really appreciate your concerns as to whether I have been 'locked up' or not, I'm very moved by it. :)
For the record I'm a very law abiding person, I've only ever been in Prison once, and that was at Wolverhampton to play an indoor 5-a-side soccer tournament against the inmates
Went for a jog this morning along the river up to Tower Bridge/Tower Of London and thought you know it's only a few hundred years ago that if you said anything wrong you got tortured at best and your head chopped off at worst. So for the Labour Gov to lock you up for just a couple of years for rioting is not that bad after all is it.

And even better they've said they are going to release jailed far-right rioters early ...

I thought they take away your phone before locking you up in a police cell.

Who's they, the government or the Daily Mail?

They actually used the words "could be".

A Facebook user has just been given 20 months for inciting violence and hatred. He's only required to serve half the sentence in prison, and half on licence, meaning he will be returned to prison if he breaches his licence conditions.

That's the norm, not an exception. There's nothing in the article you posted that says Labour will be releasing rioters early. It claims that's what they could do, and the claim is from the Daily Mail, who don't forget, was full of praise towards the kamikaze budget, before it crashed the economy. :)

You only ever serve around half your sentence unless a Judge gives a minimum term.

If it’s less than 3 years then most are sent to open prisons after serving 1/3 of there sentences.

I’m actually surprised that some of these rioters are not getting much more severe sentences of at least 5 years.
