If the government needs prison places then there are 1325 serving IPP prison sentences. These were abolished some years ago but people weren’t released unless they agreed todo a 2 year course. One bloke has served 14 years for stealing a laptop off a train commuter because he refused todo the course…..
Think about it, take part in a riot = less than 4 years, steal a laptop >= 14 years. So the later has so far cost £470,000 for one IPP sentence.
Which muppet brought in IPP orders = Mr Blunket / Labour.
For me, ALL politicians are just plain stupid with no logical thinking.
And Zombie knives!!!! FML, most stabbings occur at home using kitchen knives. But no, let’s ban stuff and the minister today said, if you are found with one in public or at home then your going to prison.
Erm….. You got enough prison places then ?????

Disgusting human being. She will probably get a fine, personally, i would volunteer to pull the trap door latch lever and smile at the same time.

Legally, I think theft is no threat to the person, robbery involves actual or threatened violenceArchery1969 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 10:39 pmUK Prison Crime Data:

This is my take on it ....
You have a hole in your roof and you get a 'roofer' ( Conservatives ) round to fix it.
You pay him a 'shed' load of money and he ( Conservatives ) spends a lot of time trying to fix the hole.
You keep asking them how they are getting on with fixing the hole and they tell you we are making progress with it and we'll soon have it fixed.
Eventually, you realise you are being 'conned' by your 'roofer' ( Conservatives ) and you sack him.
You then get another 'roofer' ( Labour ) in and after inspecting your roof they say your previous 'roofer' hasn't got a clue, and we'll fix the hole for you.
So you give him ( Labour ) the job of fixing the hole in the roof...........and then you realise after not too long that he (Labour ) has even less of a clue than the previous 'roofer' ( Conservatives ) in how to fix the hole in your roof
And this goes on for years and years, going round and round in circles while the hole keeps getting bigger and bigger ....

and then you just get a proper roofer. in my experience, just get a proper tradesperson, for the particular job. for example, the other week, i had a blocked drain. did i call richi sinka [sic]?? no, i called the local plumber. really was much easier and he did a great jobForFolksSake wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2024 10:02 amImmigration Progress being made:Archery1969 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 8:40 pmThe small boats….

Sky news reporting:
- Tax rises expected in 'grim' budget - and latest polls suggests public not on chancellor's side.
- Most people smuggling gangs are operating on high streets in Turkey. Sir Kier said he would smash the gangs but this is unrealistic as those gangs are not breaking Turkish laws and there is no extradition treaty with the UK.
- The government has restricted the winter fuel payment to those qualifying for pension credit only, so not all those on means tested benefits will qualify. Energy prices are predicted to rise by 9% in October.
Looks like it’s going to be a tough situation for the government going forward.

Ah, just found out.
Apparently, next Remembrance Day, when the current PM lays a reef, veterans will turn their backs.
Given that event is broadcast on all channels around the world, will cause total embarrassment for the PM as it’s never occurred before.

As sniffer says I think....(non-threat v's threat / violence)Archery1969 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 10:39 pmUK Prison Crime Data:

The other difference is that, if theft then plod investigate (when they have time), v's robbery when the defectives get involved.
==> so if you have something stolen, as in gimme your phone, make sure you emphasis the threat aspect as if not then it will just be the constables with very limited resources that investigate.
