We've gone to the dogs.

I've been testing automations on UK greyhound racing. Attractive because of the number of races but I have no in depth knowledge of the sport. Anyway, I'm getting some OK results on and off.

I have noticed everything seems to change on Friday and Saturday evenings and many more favourites seem to win. More second favourites too I would say. At other times the winner seems to be almost random.

Is this because the best dogs are being raced at this time? The quality is higher then?

Sorry for the naive question :)

Evenings there are OR races which tend to have shorter odds favourites. Probably more incentive not to cheat at the higher grades too

If you are able to code I posted a greyhound model somewhere on the forum a while back

The dog races are graded - A10, HC, OR etc.

Generally as mentioned above, the higher grades have less cheating and feeding up.

The price of the favorite will very closely reflect the chance of it winning. Same with the second favorite.

Thanks for your help guys!

I take the point about Open Races which must contribute but that isn't the sole reason for the change as afternoon becomes evening on Fridays and Saturdays. I don't know the answer but I made a small profit this afternoon and have am now running a different bot for the evening. I'm experimenting - small stakes just to get a feel.

Thanks again :)

It’s simple, more money on a Friday and Saturday, which makes perfect sense, if you think about it.

But any OR race brings allot more money, regardless of the day or hour.
