The most staggering tagline I have ever read. On the BBC live coverage of the attacks on Hezbollah.

"Where is Lebanon and where did Israel target in Friday night's strikes?".

Where is Lebanon??? I am genuinely shocked by that. Are we so dim, uncaring that we don't know or even can't be bothered to google it. It's staggering that the BBC editorial process thinks that tagline makes sense.
Greenmark, you would be shocked at some people’s geography. I will find the link as I know you like evidence but I saw a survey of American citizens recently and 35% couldn’t name 10 countries in Europe and 18% didn’t know that England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland were separate countries.

Based on the above maybe the BBC think allot of people are thick, maybe ?
I remember that vid. Admittedly, they probably interviewed a lot of people and selected the worst of them, but it's still shocking how thick some Americans are!

It's ok I am aware of that stat about US citizens. But it isn't 100% thankfully.
I guess we forget USA means United STATES of America. Some states are bigger than countries and they all have their own legal system beneath the federal structure. The US was forged by pioneers and I think that mentality is still an American trait.
My grumpiness was about the BBC feeling they need to tell me where Lebanon is. And also I've had hiccups for 2 days and the humour of the situation has evaporated.

Yep.

I think I told this story before but:

2001, American dinner, mid west, waitress, where you from. England. Where’s that ?, Europe. Near Africa ?

Yeah, somewhere near there.

Everyday I hear/see things being 'explained' that to me are part of a basic education. The one that annoys me perhaps the most is when a hotel puts a warning "caution may be hot" over the hot water tap! I mean ... really?

Thats done for legal, insurance and non compensation if someone happens to burn themselves. The hotel couldn't give a dam if you did get burnt, you just wont be able to sue them.

Yeah I realise why they do it but all that means is that the legal profession has caused a society that has no need to think for itself and expects every mishap to be someone else's fault with the additional cost incurred being born by those not so dim! People should be expected to take responsibility for themselves. I remember an old saying "treat someone like an idiot and you are training them to be an idiot!".

Isn't it due to the importation of the litigious culture from America? Ambulance chasing legal firms searching for people/companies to sue.
Look at the Saville situation the main beneficiaries were lawyers. His charities lost out big time. His alleged victims got very little.

Sky News reporting that Iran is about to launch a wave of ballistic missiles against Israel.

I have to say, these people are not very clever, if you’re going to do it, not saying they should, then for Christ sake use some initiative. Coordinate things. Launch from Iran, Syria, Yemen and Iraq all at once. That would overwhelm Israel’s iron dome.

An indication of the disruption in the region. Turkey covering their back, but the UN won't do that. It would be a further escalation.
Have to confess the relentless ferocity of Israel has surprised me and the willingness to expand into Lebanon annd Yemen/Iran too.

Agreed. But I wondering if Turkey is laying the foundations to attack Israel. They could say “We asked the UN, they refused, now it’s down to us” type of mentality etc.

Erdogan is unpopular at the moment, getting grief by his own population by not intervening against Israel.

Maybe he sees this as an opportunity to kill 2 birds with one stone.

I know from previous experience that Turkeys armed forces are huge, well trained and equipped via USA and NATO.

But being a NATO country, would certainly throw a spanner in the works and world order.
