Presumably that's not the correct formation. They have Walker at left back and AA at right back on Flashscore. Must be some confusion going on.

"Trent Alexander-Arnold is multi versatile and his role will be slightly different to a conventional left back. We haven't won anything since 1966 and so we have to try something different."

Perhaps Carsley knows something that Klopp and Slot do not.greenmark wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2024 4:41 pmCarsley has said TAA is leftbackjamesedwards wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2024 4:28 pmPresumably that's not the correct formation. An incredible 25 goals from 5 matches this week. And a paltry £1.60 reward.

This is the most confusing England I can remember. Maybe Carsley is a genius. His strategies must be pushing the player's minds to the limit. But sometimes being kicked out of your comfort zone is a big learning step. We shall see. The next 2 Nations League games will be a must-watch for me.
New England manager accordng to BF is permanent head coach as defined by FA.
Orr ‘interim’, ‘caretaker’, ‘temporary’ or similar for 10 games.
I'm kind of warming to Carsley. 2 games now where he appeared to have gone bonkers. But I'm a bit intrigued that he may have learned a lot over those 2 games. Perhaps I'm being wildly optimistic. Can't wait for November now.

Doesn't sound like you

In any case 3 MotM awards in 4 (?) matches for England is a good haul for Trent.
Too bad he'll be 32 before they figure out what his best position is. Southgate thought it was somewhere on the bench SMH.
Carsley de doesn't fit the sleek media-friendly chap the FA want. But I think he's now made two mistakes (no striker, TAA on the left). that should help him and the team if he and they have some passion. Failure and learning right now is very useful. I admire Carsley's courage. But the media will slaughter him at the first opportunty.
And BTW stick TAA anywhere on the pitch (or in the stands) and he will find a pass. He just can't defend. I think that is now crystal clear. So it's how that is managed. The same was true of Hoddle, but he wasn't too bad was he?
TAA can't defend Kai.
Accept this fact.
When he's in position he gets torn to bits. He is out of position so often it's ridiculous.
And in his midfield role accepting the ball facing his own goal is a green light for opponents to close him down.
But who else would have scored that freekick? Maybe Kane, but I would always back TAA in that scenario.
Kai I care about TAA even though he's a millionaire and doesnt give a hoot.
He's naked as a right back. His remit to roam forward is fine in an attacking sense, he's pretty lethal if he has wlling runners to aim at. But if possession is turned over he is useless. He's even useless in defensive set pieces.
My immediate reaction to the Tuchel idea is that he is too intense for England. The players will react badly.
But frankly, I think we need someone that is obsessive and intense. That's the keystone now. The players are there. The structure is there. As Carsley has said we need a world class manager.
The senoir squad are not playing like the U21's did under Carsley.
The no-striker experiment sort of made sense. But there's no point having that amount of atttacking prowess if they don't go flat out. Also if you have your right winger knocking himself out to drop a ball central, ahead of the penalty spot and 2 greeks are competing to head the ball clear without an England player within 6 yards, you know something needs correcting.
Well we're clearly not watching the same games then, not much else to say. I try to see every player touch and challenge, ladders permitting. And I'm used to walking that fine bias line, I'd be one of the first to rip into him if those were indeed facts. He's not a Wan-Bissaka that you can't get past but it's been overblown to stupid levels, resulting in a confidence loss at one point, and ultimately hurting England's chances.greenmark wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 2:11 pmKai I care about TAA even though he's a millionaire and doesnt give a hoot.

How many key boring England games have you watched recently that were just crying out for a moment of magic.
