I had no opinion of Amorim and still don't really have an opinion of Slot, but I was also concerned about the playing style differences with Amorim and Xabi Alonso (who would have been my pick), because why dismantle everything that was already working great.

Typically new managers inherit a mess because everything went to shite so they have to rebuild from scratch. Liverpool though was a different job, a bit like continuing someone else's save game, and the safest bet was to go like for like. Not as exciting for the fanbase who would have preferred a fresh approach, but it does mitigate the anticipated decline and causes minimal disruption, especially if the owners are looking to sell soon.

One good thing from yesterday is they haven't come for gambling again, hopefully we can be left alone now.

I'll be honest I'm struggling to get going this season it's all to much stop/start for me with international breaks, cups etc These Champion League games are nothing flash (or me anyway) it's has an air of Europa/Conference League about it.

I'm doing OK monetary wise no issue there but struggling to get myself into any of it, possibly because there's too much uncompetitive stuff about. Still plenty of opportunity's about especially pre-match but can't be arsed sorting the wheat form the chaff as there's more and more uncompetitive chaff about.

Football is heading towards what horse racing is like with the authorities thinking it's a great product and more football is what we need when the opposite is true.

Growing up, the only live football on TV was the cup final, the annual England v Scotland, the World Cup, and the European Cup final. But now TV saturation is gradually killing my appetite, so I'm happy just to watch the goals show on TNT for titbits from several matches on European nights rather than focus on only one match. It's scarcity that makes something desirable; not saturation. As for all these boring internationals.......not for me thanks.

From what I've gathered it's a 10m payoff plus he also has a 30 day notice period so they're probably trying to work around that.

Plus if he's having the chats with any of his backroom staff or players he might bring along, he can't be accused of tapping up while he's still technically the Sporting manager. Gyokeres looks very impressive 100%, Portuguese league is a 3 team battle year in year out but 41 goal in 42 games is big money consistency. He'll be getting a big Premier League or La Liga contract very soon I reckon.

BBC are suggesting he will remain for Man City and Braga (that Sporting got him from).
You make good points about players he wants to take with him. Backroom staff are reportedly already sorted.
Ruud says he's going back to his assistant role when the new manager comes in. Not sure about that.
But the bottom line is can Amorim change United. Gonna be interesting for footy geeks like me.
My guess is Utd have bought his reputation. But their players are stubborn grumpy bunch. Beating Leicester 5-2 isn't as eye-catching as it used to be.
But it may suggest the players are now a bit rattled and willing to play for their future.

Rats! Took a punt on WBA at the start but didn't check it was matched. Got distracted but realised WBA where getting battered so assumed the bet would have been gobbled up then got distracted again.
It appears my original bet didn't get matched throughout the 1st half.
