HI all, just wonder if anyone has any ideas about a problem I'm having opening excel.

Context: I have opened and run excel using Betangel for donkeys years. Recently I've been putting together some stuff in python and wanted to get my excel stuff talking to python using pyXLL. to install that though i needed both pyXLL and excel to be 64bit (or both 32), my excel was 32bit, so I decided to uninstall it and install the 64bit version. Since doing this, I'm getting the error message in the picture. I've tried repairing excel, re registering it in the registry. I have no trouble opening excel normally, only when I try to open it via BetAngel do I get this message.

Next step I guess is unwinding it all and trying everything in 32bit. I see a few people have had similar problems in the past in searches, but not really seeing any concrete solutions.

FYI, uninstalling 64bit office and reinstating 32bit office has enabled me to get excel opening again from BetAngel, if anyone struggles with this, that could be your solution. Funny thing is, I have a strange sense of deja vu about all this, pretty sure I've done this to myself before!

Annoyingly, i now think i need a 32bit version of python to run pyxll with it.. anyway, half the job done, and a solution.
