Judge has postponed the hush money sentence, allowing Trumps legal team to apply to have the case dismissed.

Jesus, is Biden taking the piss or what ?
Pardons his son over firearm and tax charges. He hasn’t even been sentenced yet.
Just another reminder that the elite are indeed above the law.

Hypocrisy, it is not just a Trump thing then, as the Democrats and their lefty journalist pals keep telling everybody.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 1:59 pmJesus, is Biden taking the piss or what ?

The excuse we keep hearing is Hunter would never have been charged for such crimes if his father was not Biden. I have to ask a similar question of those Democrats making that excuse, would Trump and Republican politicians not have faced all the charges thrown at them, if Biden and the Democrats did not hold the presidency.

I thought the Democrats were above that. Obviously not.
Biden has now done allot of damage to his own parties image. Allot of ammunition for the Republicans come next election.
I don't agree. It's Trump that as dragged US politics down.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 2:36 pm+ 1conduirez wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 2:19 pmHypocrisy, it is not just a Trump thing then, as the Democrats and their lefty journalist pals keep telling everybody.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 1:59 pmJesus, is Biden taking the piss or what ?

His own party are rejecting some of his picks for office.
With Biden, 82 and US president.... are you not going to pardon your son for misdemeanours?
Trump has already said he will pardon all those sentenced for the Jan 6 riots.
Which is worse?

Pardoning a family member for telling pork pies on a firearm application and IRS Tax form are not small fry. Combined sentence can be up-to 25 years in prison.
But anyway, I thought the Democrats were supposed to be taking the high ground and not lowering themselves to Trumps level. Obviously not.
On September 14, 2023, an indictment was filed against Hunter Biden with three counts of violating the provisions of the Form 4473. On June 11, 2024, Hunter Biden was convicted on all three gun charges by a Federal Jury.[19] President Biden said, "I will accept the outcome of this case and will continue to respect the judicial process." Hunter Biden did not criticize the judge or prosecutors but said he was blessed by his family's support and grateful to be clean. On December 1, 2024, President Biden pardoned his son despite previously saying he would not.
Form 4473, clearly states the following:
"Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?”
Lying on the form is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. For being a user of unlawful drugs in possession of a firearm, the punishment is up to five years.
I of course get the hypocrisy, nepotism element.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 4:04 pmNeither is any worse than the other.greenmark wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 3:27 pmI don't agree. It's Trump that as dragged US politics down.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 2:36 pm

But the main criticism of Biden here is that he has fallen to Trump's standards. I'd still rather have Biden than Trump as President any day. But it isn't my decision.

As has been said many times, if America can only choose between those two then there is something seriously wrong over there.greenmark wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 7:47 pmI of course get the hypocrisy, nepotism element.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 4:04 pmNeither is any worse than the other.greenmark wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 3:27 pm

My issue with Biden here is he didn’t even wait for sentencing before acting. That’s wrong on multiple levels and gives out the totally wrong messaging for law abiding citizens.
He should have asked for sentencing to be brought forward and then intervene if necessary. Don’t forget his son is also allowed protection. If he got sentenced to 20 years then Biden Senior could have commuted it to say 12 months in prison and x amount years under house arrest etc.
But the way Joe has done this just really stinks if you believe in the rule of law and democracy.
I agree. And that's my point. Biden has months of power left. And he is using it the way Trump used the end of his tenure. It's a moral downward spriral.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 7:56 pmAs has been said many times, if America can only choose between those two then there is something seriously wrong over there.greenmark wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 7:47 pmI of course get the hypocrisy, nepotism element.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 4:04 pm

No, I would not.
While there is no explicit, all-encompassing legal requirement for the President to operate "without bias or favour," constitutional principles, ethical standards, and legal frameworks aim to hold the President accountable to the ideal of impartial governance. Under the principle of Impartial Administration of Justice the President oversees federal law enforcement and is expected to avoid bias or favouritism in how justice is administered.
I think pardoning your convicted son doesn't sit comfortably with that!
And as Archery said since when was 25 years jail time for a 'misdemeanour'?
