And are we a nation that wants to see immigrants drown wile crossing the channel in dinghies ( 50 so far this year )

the cost of the UK's asylum system has risen to £5billion, with the average cost of housing and supporting an asylum seeker increasing from £17,000 in 2019/20 to £41,000 in 2023/24. The UK spent £4.3 billion on asylum seekers in 2023, up from £3.7 billion in 2022. The Home Office's spending on asylum rose by 36% from 2022/23 to 2023/24

This equates to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) estimates that tax evasion costs around £5 billion a year in lost revenue and is most prevalent among small businesses ℹ️
Labour have been promising all the no holds barred data since September on immigration and a Labour minister in the house last week promised a big data drop last Friday, they failed to publish it.
How about this stat? In London in 2022 66.5 per cent of all the babies born in the capital were born of foreign mothers
Birmingham foreign births are running at 43.6 per cent.
Manchester keeps those numbers hidden.

100,000 migrants have been granted asylum in the last year. What is incredible is that over 70 per cent didn’t arrive by small boats coming across the channel. ℹ️
Although it’s nothing todo with me anymore, I thought there was a housing crisis over there, so, where they all living exactly and who is paying for it ?

Where I am now they have announced a cut in allowed immigration by 21%. And the country is 40 times bigger than the UK.

....and uk gdp is 2.2trillion. The immigration bill (even your figures are correct) is less than peanuts.
.... and they have stopped the winter fuel payment to pensioners to save £1.4 billion
... peanuts

What a F*ckn liberty
The Tories left a total shit-show behind them.
Under Tony Blair, a new bar for immigration was created.
Neither Tories or Labour seems to have any idea on how to control it.

By 2029, we could well be looking at a population of over 70 million, and hospitals even fuller.

Looks like we have another 5 years of Labour shit-show 💩

Bit of 'lateral' thinking there.

And what percentage of the "foreign" mothers were British?

PS: Does Boris Johnson ex-wife Marina Wheeler count as a "foreign" mother? (she was born in Berlin). And just for the record he was born in NY..

If you are that interested here's some more interesting facts for you about births to non-UK-born mothers:

In 2023, 31.8% of live births in England and Wales were to non-UK-born mothers, which is the highest proportion since records began in 2001. This percentage has been increasing over time.

Country of birth
In 2023, India was the most common country of birth for non-UK-born mothers, followed by Pakistan and Romania.

Region
London has the highest proportion of births to parents where either one or both were born outside the UK, at 67.4%. Wales and the North East of England have the lowest proportions, at 17.5% and 20.5%, respectively.
Age
The proportion of births to mothers born outside the UK increases with the age of the mother, from 15.8% for mothers under 20 to 53.9% for mothers aged 45 and over.

As of June 2023, about 18% of the population of England and Wales was born outside the UK. This is equivalent to around 11.4 million people, including 3.4 million who were born in the EU and 8 million who were born outside the EU

1.The proportion of people born outside the UK has increased across all regions of England.

2. London has the highest proportion of migrants in the UK, with more than 40% of its residents born abroad.

3. The most common countries of birth for UK migrants in 2021/22 were India, Poland, Pakistan, Romania, and Ireland.

4. In 2020, the Scottish cities with the largest proportion of non-British residents were Aberdeen City (19.4%), City of Edinburgh (17.9%), and Glasgow City (15.3%). 👶

So the answer is yes, Marina Wheeler would be counted as a "foreign" mother under that definition... As would any anyone born of an Irish mother...

But thanks for posting as great news re increasing the gene pool in UK.

PS: I would estimate Glasgow as c35% to 45% of Irish heritage going back up to 3 generations...

I think we are missing the obvious response to FFS's complaint about births to foreign mothers.
What difference does it make? Do they really come here to breed like rabbits? Of course not. Everywhere in the world you find birth rates drop as people become better off.
But anyway I know half my family came from Indonesia, Netherlands via South Africa. And who knows what my genetic soup is made from? Vikings, Normans, Romans, Angles, Saxons. Racism is such an indescribale pile of bollox.
