Greetings Dallas and other technically advanced beings,
In certain racing markets there often appear selections with far more backing than one would expect given the attributed odds. The odds usually go right up, serious backing occurs then the odds reduce. Eg. I saw a horse in a USA market yesterday with odds of 15 (pushed up to 26) but with matched bets at 50% of what would be expected with the favourite. 2 other horses at around 17 had a mere 3-5% of the fav's volume. The backing tend to appear within the last 3-5 minutes and if you notice it and back it, it is often VERY worthwhile. I have read about the current alerts available but cannot see how to create an alert for this particular situation. The backing of favourites by punters is out of proportion to start with, which would create an unwanted alert, so I'm not sure how best to approach this. Maybe a sliding scale of volume in parallel to the expected odds. Any ideas?
Thank you.
Jon
Creating an alert to higher selection volume than expected.
There is an example here with a rules file (.baf) which stores the vol% and book% for each selection
Using that you can add an 'Alert' rule with a Stored Value condition to test
If one is greater or less than the other and by 'X' amount
