What is this nonsense now, UEFA claiming the moral high ground is a little rich either way football needs reform starting with FIFA. I'm a fan of less football and more quality but the money men at FIFA, A22 and UEFA think we need more either way it's a recipe for disaster as there is talk of player strikes.

Sadly it was never going to go away so easily. I've honestly enjoyed the new CL format as a fan, a neutral, and a trader alike.

The Spanish are complete sellouts, think it'll be down to English clubs/fans to put their foot down.

The Premier League is the the problem for Real Madrid and Barca IMO they are no longer the ones with the money/power and they don't like it.

Personally I think a lot more of Europe will want go down this Unify League route now, the Italians will be up for it they're bent as anything and sporadic clubs around Europe will want more money which is what this Unify League seems to be offering.

It'll be interesting because Labour has just vowed to block any English clubs joining this new league which was the previous Governments stance and they are on with a new football regulator which the Premier League or Clubs don't want but fans do.

Whatever happens I think were in for a power struggle because owners of English clubs will now doubt want more money but the fans won't have any of it, the Germans certainly won't entertain it either.

If the prize money is good enough then it'll destroy the lower level leagues in Europe. Rosenborg had a good run in Europe in the late 90's one season and the prize money from that gave them enough to dominate Norwegian football for decades.

Can't blame the teams for going for it though, if Shamrock Rovers or St Pats from the mickey mouse Irish league had a chance, I think they'd have no choice but to compete.
Most are barely breaking even at the moment, and the chance of a share of gate receipts, media hype, appearance/game money, and increased fan interest in the games would be a no-brainer.

The question for the big leagues with teams like Real, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd, Barca, both Milans etc that sell out their games 90%+ of the time, how much money do they actually want? And at what point will they stop increasing prices because fans won't pay extortionate prices any more and protest with their non attendance.

Big teams don't even need games to be making money, I visited the Nou Camp in August one year and there was probably 5000 people in the stadium doing the same tour that day. I did a little back of a beermat calculation after and think the weekly income from stadium tours/giftshop alone would have easily paid the salary of their top 3 players at the time; Messi, Neymar and Suarez

When you play sport at a high level confidence is everything and Man City are very short of it at the moment. Ultimately that's the managers job.
