Hi All,
'Traders win 95% of the time:'
This is the title of the main bods latest video (well recent anyway) .If this statement was even anywhere near the truth then the government would be taxing us by now

It doesn't actually say that, it's titled 'The Truth About Trading: Why 95% of Traders DON’T Actually Lose!'

And gives you the actually published rates of losing traders.

Not sure how that turned into 'Traders win 95% of the time'

Strike rate has nothing to do with profitability. You can win (or lose) 95% of the time and either be profitable or not.

That percentage seems to be confusion about the stat that about 95% of people who use Betfair lose, and the remaining 5% don't.

Hi All,
I have looked at the video again ,and the proposition is crystal clear ,that traders win 95% of the time . It's an absurd proposition , if it were the case everybody would be trading and winning on betfair
As for the idea that you can lose 95% of the time but still win ,well that has a little merit for general betting but not so trading .Back in the day when you got really good prices on BF for the outsiders I used to make a packet on a 7% SR backing outsiders at the jump tracks and a handful of flat tracks ,but I cant see that happening with trading because losses are always disproportionate to gain ,so if you have just lost 95 trades ,the next five trades would have to be something quite spectacular to make up for the losses.
But having said all that there are people who trade to profit , how consistent this is I can't really tell .
Yesterday I had 5 losing trades in a row ,but resat assured the next 95 will be winners
Kind Regards

You must be watching a completely different video to me! I mean it even has the losing statistics in there, couldn't be clearer.

had alook for that video but couldn't find it.

However, this thumbnail had me in fits... unwitting i'm sure, but what a composition:

and shouldn't the title be *Getting a Hedge*?? :D

Hi All,
I have a Phd in particle physics so I know a thing or three about stats ,and I conclude that if 95% of traders are winning then there wouldn't be enough money from the losers to pay the winners

I can see how the title of the video may be misleading, for those not aware of the stat being discussed.

If 95% of traders don’t actually lose, it can be implied that 95% break even or profit.

This is cleared up by the content of the video.

“Why less than 95% of traders don’t actually lose.” - may not have generated a discussion. :D

Are you sure about your quali, theoretically 95% could win pennies while 5% lose pounds. ;)

But "as for the idea that you can lose 95% of the time but still win ,well that has a little merit for general betting but not so trading."

That's not right, a 'trade' could quite easily have a 20:1 ratio. There's plenty of speculative strategies that happily lose tick after tick to hit the occasional outlier.

I think it’s quite clear from the video even for me!

It’s not 95% of traders in a given year that lose,
Stats show it’s generally around 75%
Not 95%
