Hi All,
I wondered what the biggest traded sport was on BF so I asked Perplexity AI and it came up with the following :
Horse racing is the biggest traded sport on the Betfair betting exchange1. It consistently generates the highest volume of matched bets, making it the top pre-off event by matched betting volume1. Football and tennis follow as the second and third most traded sports on Betfair, respectively1.
While horse racing remains the overall leader, it's worth noting that some sports have shown significant growth in recent years. For example, in-play football betting increased by nearly £3 billion between 2011 and 2016, and cricket betting grew from £4 billion to approaching £12 billion in a five-year period1.
The popularity of horse racing on Betfair can be attributed to its frequent events throughout the year, occurring almost daily1. This constant activity provides numerous opportunities for traders and bettors, making it an attractive market for those looking to engage in high-volume trading on the Betfair exchange.
So it looks like horse racing is still tops ,interesting that cricket is on the up . It didn't mention Tennis though.
Kind Regards
Tico

I'd say the problem with Cricket is that it's dominated by people trying to be the fastest to press a button. That's dominated by people at the event itself or somehow involved in it. That makes it tough.
While the top line volumes are huge, the amount you can yield from it as a percentage is quite small. That's dictated by it being a two runner market with cross matching. Spreads are always going to be super tight.
