Nice civilized end to the Porto v Sporting game this evening. Matheus Reis wasn't even on long enough to get a player rating but still got sent off

Best advert not to have VAR, they'd of been messing about with lines for 2 minutes. You get incompetent decisions with VAR it's a human game and technology should be kept at a bare minimum (goal line only). I'm enjoying the FA Cup the standard of refereeing is better than the Premier League.
It's interesting watching lower league sides v Premier League sides, Premier League sides screaming for everything every time they are breathed on and referee's just playing on. Premier League managers and players are completely out of touch.

Lovely goal for Orient v City but it's a shame it'll go down as an own goal. Big ask for them to hold on for the rest of the game but hope they can.
I think we'll have to agree to disagree. Foxes fans must be stinging today at such a clearly incorrect decision. It actually wasn't a VAR/draw lines/hum and hah. It was plainly an incorrect decision that VAR would have overturned in quick time. But that's my lot on the subject unless you want to debate further.Michael5482 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 12:45 pmBest advert not to have VAR, they'd of been messing about with lines for 2 minutes. That's some proper Brexit football from Plymouth, not often you see a player lose a tooth
No team looked like creating anything all half, let alone scoring!
Liverpool have no control over this, need at least one senior MF here to control the match, which was Endo but game plan fell apart after 10mins when Gomez had to go off and Endo needed to fill in at CB instead
There's Curtis Jones on the bench though, and unlike the PSV match Darwin can come on if needed

Relatively comfy win for Plymouth
Deserved and expected but didn't have to work overly hard to defend or create, just imposed their Brexit footy and forced a mistake from the smallest weakest player on the pitch
Liverpool fully distracted by the big derby in 3 days, I don't see why Mac Allister needed to be rested for 2 matches in a row, strange call there

Yes fantastic win for Plymouth, always good to see the underdog prevail in the FA Cup. Liverpool didn't want it Plymouth did, spirit is a great leveller.Kai wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2025 5:00 pmRelatively comfy win for Plymouth

It's one of the rare matches in a season where losing actually comes with an upside, as it increases the chances of winning the major trophies instead.
Similarly, the recent losses against PSV and 1st leg vs Spurs were matches Slot could afford to lose, and still go through.
Been very impressed with him overall, very cold and calculated, lost one match last calendar year across 2 clubs.
Wondered why Jones didn't come on tonight and why some kid was given a debut instead, but heard in the presser that Jones was carrying a knock so that explains it.

The Trent (Kone-Doherty) that came on for Trey is the nearest Maybe maybe for Liverpool bringing through an Irish outfield star since Richie Partridge ended up doing fuck all about 20 years ago. I think he ended up marrying Michael Owens sister though so what he didn't earn, he married intoKai wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2025 7:43 pmIt's one of the rare matches in a season where losing actually comes with an upside, as it increases the chances of winning the major trophies instead.

Mason Melia that Spurs have signed is THE hype. He scored his first professional goal before his Junior Cert exams, that's like the UK GCSE level! He's a kid in a mans body that can shoulder men off the ball. Please God he doesn't end up another Troy Parrott and fucked off to Holland

Wait, no way... I actually remember managing a Partridge once, must have been 20 years ago with Liverpool in FM 2005?!Dublin_Flyer wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2025 11:23 pmThe Trent (Kone-Doherty) that came on for Trey is the nearest Maybe maybe for Liverpool bringing through an Irish outfield star since Richie Partridge ended up doing fuck all about 20 years ago. Think he was a very ineffective sub on the wings for me, alongside many others in that squad
Fingers crossed for Trent Jr then, I know his name but was too annoyed, I always know what these kids look like stats-wise from Footy Manager, usually before I see them play. There's been so much wasted talent and unfulfilled potential over the years

Footy Manager is so true to real life sometimes, it's genuinely weeeeeird!
I remember having a kid called Ballotelli back in the day who had the potential to be world class, but had the mindset of a teenager and wouldn't be a long term signing, so I ditched him 2 years in before he went pure Mario

Are Man City really 25% better than Real Madrid?

Pep will have a full side out v Plymouth in the FA Cup because it's the only chance of silverware he has left.
