Market Suspensions

What's with the mass suspensions across multiple football markets, the entire EFL league 1 has just been suspended for around 30mins and has now vanished completely from the markets on Betfair. If I track my open position through 'my bets' it takes me to the market that still shows as suspended? What the hell, how are you meant to exit losing/profitable positions?

There's zero explanation on their X page as to why this is, I'm sure they're not going to void any of these bets either which frankly is appalling .

What do people do in this situation? Luckily as I'm testing my liability is tiny tiny tiny but if this was a 'live' situation I'd be panicking now, do people have a contingency if so what?

Oh I bet the answer is to lay off your liability on a difference exchange. Grrr I'll need to investigate this more.TupleVision wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2025 4:25 pmWhat do people do in this situation? What's appalling is them only using X. There's a lot of people who don't/won't use it.TupleVision wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2025 4:23 pmThere's zero explanation on their X page as to why this is, I'm sure they're not going to void any of these bets either which frankly is appalling .
Sometimes you're just notTupleVision wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2025 4:15 pmWhat the hell, how are you meant to exit losing/profitable positions?

Some good info in a link to another thread in there, thanks. My liability is never wipe out, it's always a tiny fraction of my account, I'm not really laying anything at huge odds to pick up a few quid but still, feels like a kick in the balls when you're in the red by double what you had planned. I might need to do as you suggested in that thread and either just account for it or come up with a different solution. I'm tempted with laying off on a different exchange at the moment, although for today I've probably committed a trading 'cardinal sin' and I've just increased my liabilities on the remaining matches to cover the lossKai wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2025 5:10 pmSometimes you're just notTupleVision wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2025 4:15 pmWhat the hell, how are you meant to exit losing/profitable positions?![]()

But they don't even use that to give updates either. I had to ask and got the standard, 'We are having technical issues, sorry for any inconvenience', answer.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2025 4:37 pmWhat's appalling is them only using X. No exit no problem

Even worse is that I managed to green up a position on one of these markets when it was unsuspended in what I thought was the normal course of business, eg just after a goal. Came back to it later and betfair had voided that bet but not my opening position meaning I was in a loss.
Complained to customer services and they have offered me a free exchange bet equal in value to the winnings they voided which will still leave me down slightly but I decided to take it as the amount involved was small and it seems per the terms and conditions they can just void bets whenever they feel like it.

very annoying,on February 8th, a bet they accepted was canceled.
I simply made a "cash out" immediately after a goal. After about 30 seconds of the goal, the market was suspended until the end, but I managed to bet before it was suspended (no pricing errors)
this is response...;
"...Hello Francesco,
Thank you for your reply.
Please be advised that, according to the feedback from the relevant department, the bet in question has been voided due to the failure to suspend the market for the 5th goal. Consequently, all bets placed between 13:30:43 and 13:32:40 have been voided....."
the funny thing is that if I had been aware that my bet was invalid I would have simply bet on a normal bookmaker
