Hi guys. I am a newbie on this forum. I am a foreigner. I just moved to the UK. My only source of income comes from gambling. I know that gambling income is not taxable in the UK.
1)But do I have to declare my gambling income anyway even if I don't have to pay taxes?
2)How do professional gamblers confirm their income in the UK? For example, I need to apply for a European Schengen visa and they ask me to confirm my source of income. How can I do it? Obviously, a statement from my Betfair account won't be considered as a legit proof of income for a visa center/embassy.
Please give me an advice. Thank you

Nobody has to declare gambling income anywhere, as far as I know.

Not sure how you get around this. Can you use savings?

Unfortunately savings did not work. I provided a savings' account statement but the embassy rejected my application. They told me savings' account statement is not enough and they need a proof of income.

The problem with gambling income is you’re pretty much living off grid. To credit agencies and banks you earn nothing yet have frequent deposits/withdrawals with gambling firms.

I guess it’s a downside to the job that you can’t get a mortgage, car loan, large credit card limit (although that could be seen as a positive too).

Unless you earn income through bank interest or shares/dividends then I imagine it might be very hard to get a visa but hopefully you find a way round it!

But do I have to notify HMRC somehow about my gambling income?

I think he is just saying, do you have a visa, or is it a looooong holiday.

It makes quite a bit to your status and ability to do things.

That would be nice interpretation of it & hope you are right..

My views maybe clouded by his previous posts and support / encouragement of rioting re immigration issues.
