Hi,
I want to try something out today using minimum stakes.
I know years ago there was an issue with repeatedly placing bets under the £2 stake limit.
Is this still the case?
I'm just trying to figure out where to set my lower stake level
Thanks in advance for any replies

It's £1 these days by the way. I've been testing out a strategy for weeks using very small stakes, talking pence, with no issues. I'm a few grand in the hole over the years with Betfair so not sure if that counts for anything but yeah, no issues so far.walshy wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2025 11:27 amHi,

I use single 10p stakes. So far had no issues.
I don't see why there would be an issue, (probably utilisation charge, on there side but its all automated anyway these days) they make money regardless.
Have a go with 10p, only can do this through Softwares like bet angel however. Betfair website is 1£ minimum

Not so, BA is only doing what someone would do 'manually' on BF but just at much quicker speeds. If speed isn't an issue you simply place a bet over/under the current price you're wanting to back or lay at, then edit the bet and add your actual stake you want to use, then once that is submitted you now have 2 bets open waiting to be matched, you simply cancel the first one.
Example, I want to lay for 10p stakes at 5.6, I put in a lay bet on my selection at 1.2 for £1 press submit. I then go to that bet and update it to £1.10 and submit. I now have 2 open bets, I simply cancel the one for £1 and update the one for 10p to 5.6 and submit. Bingo.

Min stake (via the API, not sure about the site) also respects the position of the other side. You can place a 1p back offer at 1000 because the liability of the person accepting it is over their liability min. It effectively becomes a £1 min below 11 and above that it's limitted by the liability, on either side.
If you're planning to do it a lot (maybe a HFT situation) then you can ask nicely for the limit to be removed. They rarely turn down a proposition that's mutually beneficial if you can illustrate how that's likely to be the case.
