Be aware some people using VPS servers.

The idiots at betfair, well there supplier has changed a load of data. Despite my IP address not changing it has moved location from the UK to Italy.

This was the advice from my hosting company

If you use betfair then be aware that Betfair use Maxmind to determine the location of each IP and their IP GEO location information and database can be updated from time to time and is outside our control, we have sent them a request to update the IP range which your server sits in to reflect the IP is located in the UK

Of course betfair are denying any knowledge of this but it just hasnt occured to myself, I know of at least 2 others who have the same issue

Hi Lee,

I just found your post. Thanks for the info. :)

Sounds like there isn't much I can do, other than wait and hope that someone resolves this?

It's not a disaster for me as I'm in the UK and can launch BA on my local machine. Annoying though.

Ditto. The issue is more that I wouldnt like to leave my laptop switched on 24/7 mostly unattended

We are already speaking to Betfair and others about this.

Betfair use Maxmind to locate people's IP addresses and Maxmind have switched some of them from UK to Italy today for some bizarre reason.

There is a workaround for those affected.

If you use a VPN you can re-direct traffic to come from the UK.

The 32bit version of Proton VPN which seems to work OK on a Windows server. We just tested it for you.

Thanks for the VPN suggestion!

I use Surfshark and I'm up and running again. :)

my hosting company has heard back from them

they have admitted the mistake but won't fix it till Friday when they do an update

typical of modern day customer service

To be honest I think that's good customer service. They've replied quickly and provided, hopefully, a realistic timeframe. They may have other fires to be putting out meantime. It's only annoying because it impacts us and we want a solution immediately. Back in the day you would have been on the phone hours and got nowhere

However, many thanks for sharing !
