Trump talks his country up ... in his first day in office Starmer talked his country down. I know which I would rather have as a leader.
For all his bluster, Johnson was pretty good at it. Heck, Johnson was better at politics. Starmer isn’t and it will be his undoing, he isn’t a salesman and that is what a PM should be able to do as part of their skill set.
Starmer has the charisma of a funeral director

Tory party are a 'broken' brand.
It's only a matter of time before the Labour party buries itself 🪦 and is replaced by Reform

Well, he was a spin doctor.
I doubt Lammy can spin his way out of his previous comments about Trump.
"tyrant" and "a woman-hating, neo-Nazi-sympathising sociopath".

It's a good move if he wants to be ambassador. But the price he's paying is losing all his self-respect. I know what my choice would be.

Ironic that someone spent the peak of his career reworking the truth has now been forced to eat humble pie for actually telling the truth.

JD Vance has been a good performer so far as Vice President, is a good orator and likely the next president after Trump. A long way to go, but that looks like the narrative for the moment.

EU representatives didn't like him this afternoon when he stood up in front of them and absolutely rinsed them.

He didn't do it from 1000,s of miles away in the White House or on social media he stood right in front of them and absolutely slaughtered them, I personally enjoyed looking at their faces in the crowd when the camera was panning on them.

He did come out with some utter nonsense though at least according to the BBC fact checkers.

I can't believe the new tax criteria for 2025... How has this got signed off, I sure hope riots will happen. We already have no money.

PAYE tax rate Rate of tax Annual earnings the rate applies to
(above the PAYE threshold)
Basic tax rate 20% Up to £37,700
Higher tax rate 40% From £37,701 to £125,140
Additional tax rate 45% Above £125,140

apologies all for responding to an OT message on this thread, but just wanted to clarify:

I'm finding different info, where did you source that from??

For the 2025-2026 tax year in the UK, here are the key income tax brackets and rates:

England, Wales, and Northern Ireland:
Personal Allowance: Up to £12,570 (0% tax)
Basic Rate: £12,571 to £50,270 (20% tax)
Higher Rate: £50,271 to £125,140 (40% tax)
Additional Rate: Over £125,140 (45% tax)

Scotland:
Personal Allowance: Up to £12,570 (0% tax)
Starter Rate: £12,571 to £14,732 (19% tax)
Basic Rate: £14,733 to £25,688 (20% tax)
Intermediate Rate: £25,689 to £43,662 (21% tax)
Higher Rate: £43,663 to £125,140 (42% tax)
Top Rate: Over £125,140 (47% tax)

Additionally, the personal allowance is reduced by £1 for every £2 earned over £100,000, and those earning above £125,140 will lose their personal allowance entirely.

The actual current income tax rates are as follows:
0% £0-£12,570
20% £12,571-£50,270
40% £50271 to £100,000
60% £100,000 to £125,140
45% >£125,141

It's weird how income tax becomes so heavily regressive after £100k, and that nobody ever discusses the effective 60% income tax bracket between £100k and £125k. It's one of the most stealthiest of stealth taxes.
