Where to start?

I think it would be fair to say that I really don't have a clue what I am doing. Is there anywhere that I can go that will teach me how to trade from the very basics? Maybe some sort of structured course for beginners? There is lots of information here but it is spread all over the place and difficult to know where to start.
I couldn't possibly know where to start, however I think you have a good point
Peter posts lots of very useful videos, but there's no specific categories for them. Perhaps a section for beginners, novices, etc might help some users on their trading career

Hi Mikey
welcome
mikey ,my advice is this ,pick a sport .horses, tennis football whatever you like ,
now choose where to trade ,inplay ,preplay ,half time ,
pick one and stick to it ,and master it ,study the movement of money how the book shifts and tightens up.
how the market moves ,it takes endless hours of abservation ,but you will get there ,im now unemployed 368 days and its taken me almost all of that in 16 hour days to find my way that works for me where i can make small money and grow my bank.hang in you will get there if you want it badly enough ,

What I suspect beginners would like is an answer to the question 'How do I get an edge?'.
I think they want either to start having an edge right away, or to have it once they've become, through practice, fluent with the technique(s) taught.

I think that is an issue many newbies need to address.Ferru123 wrote:What I suspect beginners would like is an answer to the question 'How do I get an edge?'.
I've seen too many posters on here, totally disillusioned because they thought this was going to be a piece of cake.
I'm not sure Peter can teach people how to get an edge. His trading style will be totally different to mine, and many other profitable traders. Getting an edge is what people have to work out and work at themselves.
What Peter can do is show the full capacity of BA, for both beginners and perhaps more experienced users who don't utilise the software's capabilities to the max. He can show the basics of how to make a small profit from his trade, then people need to take that information and develop their own skills around certain markets or strategies.
The sad reality of Premium Charge, is that the vast majority of successful traders will keep their lips zipped now. BF has already impacted on their edge, they don't want to start giving even more away to newbies who haven't put in the legwork themselves!
Some newbies may be frustrated because they don't become the next Adam Heathcote overnight. They want instant gratification, and don't appreciate that you don't become a master of a new skill in a split second.LeTiss 4pm wrote: I've seen too many posters on here, totally disillusioned because they thought this was going to be a piece of cake.
However, some traders get frustrated because they have a vague idea about what to do, and, try as they might, they find they lose money consistently. Those guys are basically lost - they are throwing good money after bad in the hope of stumbling across something that works. Until they sit down and seriously think about their trading, or are given proper guidance, they will continue to struggle.
If everyone did exactly what Peter did, his methods would cease to work. So obviously it's not viable for Peter to show people verbatim what he does. However, he may be able to teach people the underlying principles behind what he does, which will hopefully enable them to get an edge.LeTiss 4pm wrote:I'm not sure Peter can teach people how to get an edge.
I think the challenge is that, if Peter doesn't go into specifics of exactly what he does (understandably), then it might not be possible for people to know whether what they're doing is even vaguely on the right lines. For example, Peter talks about the importance of going with the persistance of the WOM. I might make a trade thinking I was going with the long-term WOM, but Peter might feel I was leaving it way too late, or too early.
Perhaps, but the main thing for beginners is to be taught something that works - anything. Once you know what you're doing and you're making consistent profits, you can play with it and branch out.LeTiss 4pm wrote:His trading style will be totally different to mine, and many other profitable traders.
I'd like to think it might be teachable.LeTiss 4pm wrote:Getting an edge is what people have to work out and work at themselves.
Has anyone been on a course or read a manual and developed an edge (either right away or by practicing the techniques outlined)?
And not just that, but they don't want to find themselves accused of Premium Charge avoidance because someone else is using the same methods as them!LeTiss 4pm wrote:The sad reality of Premium Charge, is that the vast majority of successful traders will keep their lips zipped now. I notice that you have your PM facility turned off. That's not because of newbies pestering you for tips, is it?
