Is it me or is there a distinct lack of liquidity on today's cards? Seems very quiet for a Saturday.

Seems dire to me - was just £57,000 matched at the last kelso race at 4 mins out. Midweek seems better these days to Saturdays.

I personally think that some of the other exchanges are closing the gap liquidity wise.

On one of the other exchanges the 14:05 from Doncaster has about 65% volume of betfair at the minute... better than it used to be

Which exchange is that?

If Betdaq have you converted the Betfair amount to the same as Betdaq's?

I think the major traders have realised the money on Saturdays are within the football markets

Yeah did the conversions Andy.. I think some of the big fish might be experimenting with betdaq.. no premium charge and all that.

Not sure if there's sufficient liquidity for them over there though

It's pretty hard work, although the API has started to settle down.

Hopefully we might see more volume such as the November handicap just about to go off.

Was poor last saturday too. It may (at least partly) be caused by how many races with large fields and high priced favourites there have been today

Saying that the last few had shorter favs and were also very poor. ATR may partly be to blame by favouring the irish races ahead of the UK ones today, or maybe I'm just clutching at straws... two weeks ago I remember volume being very high on the saturday

Midweek does seem to be a lot better of late. The big guns may have been holding off for the Breeders Cup stuff last night but there was still very little around.

No danger of that with the big game this PM. I've got it at 2-1 with the first goal just before half time. I'm looking out the window for two magpies, crossing everything and scouring the grass for four leaf clovers...

It seems strange that market behaviour would change so rapidly on saturdays in the space of two weeks without there being some fundamental reason behind it.

Since bookmakers put a lot of money through betfair, is it possible that maybe a bookmaker with a very large market share (or perhaps even a group of bookmakers, if the employ bet brokers to put bets on using betfair), for whatever reason, did not use betfair yesterday? I admit I have no idea about bookmaker market share or how they use betfair exactly, but to my mind that is the only thing that can explain such a change.

First few races today the volume was much lower than similar races on a weekday evening. Terrible!

Even the football markets are lower than normal, and bearing in mind there's only 2 tennis matches today with both of them live on Sky, the liquidity on these is lower than you would normally expect
