As a newbie I am interested in pre-off scalping in Guardian. Of the 10 scalping bots listed in Bet Angel, can anyone recommend a bot with a profitable track record?

There's no such thing as a giveaway bot that makes money, the nature of things on an exchange vs a bookmaker is that not everyone can be a winner. If everyone downloaded a 'winning' bot then who'd be paying you? The BA downloadable bots are examples of it's functionality and it's your job to tune them the way you see fit.
Scalping seems to be a go to for prospective traders because it looks easy but it's far harder than it seems. Give yourself some breathing room and allow a few ticks movement rather than +1 - 1 all day with the prospect of the occasional -more. And it's much easier to set up automation if you've got the hang of doing it manually first so you can make sensible changes, unless you can do it manually with all your human subjectivity it'll be hard to set up a purely objective automated version of yourself.
