If Betfair put one up, it's often been a good trading market.

What's your guidelines ? Im not up to date with current Catholic church policies :D

From ChatGpt
"It’s a good trading market because prices can swing massively on rumours, media coverage, and shifts in public sentiment. There's often low liquidity early on, which means sharp moves on small amounts of money—ideal for traders who can read the narrative and time their entries well."

"The Next Pope market is great for trading because it's driven by speculation rather than hard stats. A cardinal can go from 100/1 to 10/1 overnight if a journalist or Vatican watcher hints at rising influence. That volatility, especially with relatively low liquidity early on, creates great swing trading potential."

Pope Francis (Jorge Mario Bergoglio) was matched at 180 to be the next papal appointment. Lots matched at short odds, it's an interesting market and very unpredictable.

Sample size is an issue, my data only goes back to 1389. But I think I'll wait for the market surge, when they all know the result and rush out to get a few quid on.

Fascinating looking on Polymarket. Literally all Catholics I know want Pizzaballa, the extreme yank trads want Sarah which will never happen. Zuppi is a runner for me but I'm with the wise Dominican https://x.com/FrTotleben92742/status/19 ... udu0g&s=19

Lay the top end for sure

I've just requested the Betfair Traders add a 'Who will be the next Pope' market on the Betfair Exchange.

The more people who ask, the more chance of such market being added.

I attached the Polymarket 'next Pope' market link and suggested they use the same names to begin with.

Reply just received:

"Thanks for waiting, the traders have advised that they're currently in the process of creating this market, and it should be available on site within the next couple of hours. We appreciate your patience. - Kathleen 🌹"

I can navigate to the market in BA, but not on my phone via the side menus. The only way to find the market is by searching for “Pope”.

Cheers, Jim. That’s where I found it in BA, but it’s definitely not showing on my phone. 🫤

Has someone at BF perhaps decided belatedly that a market before the funeral is a bit too soon?

Haven’t got my laptop on to check the website through a normal browser.

Can't be too soon, it's done and (ashes to ashes, dust to) dust (ed) and there hasn't been a hint of VAR getting involved. PLAY ON says the man upstairs to use a Sky Sports phrase :)
