So for the last few days I've had the odds freeze on the in play trader screen that I have open on top of my one click screen.
It seems to last about 5 seconds or so and has probably happened about 3 or 4 times whilst I've traded nearly every race over the last 4 days.
My connection is wired and super fast, during this time I have no problems with the Betfair live video or anything else I'm connected to. I also noticed it still says "streaming" at the bottom of bet angel.
Any bets I place during this freeze don't show (profit loss is still 0.00) but they are matched into the market, when the odds "unfreeze" I can then see my profit loss on my one click screen.
Any ideas on what could be causing this please, the only things I have opened are bet angel, Microsoft edge with 4 tabs including Betfair live video and a drone feed connection. Everything has no connection issues whilst the freeze happens.
Odds freezing during a race
So this happened today for a very brief time, during the freeze I tried to open the servant manager and nothing happened, once things moved again the servant manager opened up in a new window so the initial click was definitely registered, just delayed whilst everything was stuck.
From what you've described that would indicate a CPU usage issue
If you open your windows task manager you'll be able to see a list of everything running and how much CPU/Memory its taking up, it might be worth leaving it minimized so the next time BA freezes for a moment you can quickly view the task manager and see what's changed

So a bit of an update on this, closing some tabs on my browser seemed to help and I haven't seen it happen on the in play trader for a good few days now.
However yesterday I decided to do some pre off scalping and it froze twice within 3 races.
During this time I could scroll the ladders up and down and open servants manager etc. At one point the odds on the ladders completely froze for around 10-15 seconds?

That would mean rather than a CPU issue on this occasion it was a internet/connection issue.Scotty66 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 30, 2025 8:00 amSo a bit of an update on this, closing some tabs on my browser seemed to help and I haven't seen it happen on the in play trader for a good few days now.

I haven't seen any other reports yesterday which would indicate it was a issue on BF's end so looks like a local one at your side.
It may have just been a one-off and coincidental it occurred just after you appear to have got the freezing problem sorted and may have been down to your ISP rather than at your PC,
A few things you can do is if you are using a WiFi connection if you can try using a wired one as WiFi is prone to dropping off from time to time, if that's not possible and it continues to happen you could try using a different connection ie, if you have 5g try using that for a few days.
If none of that works and you still get the intermittent loss of connection (prices freeze but ladders can still be scrolled and windows opened) it may be due to streaming of the updates, so the next step would be to try switching back to polling for a while. But thats a last resort once all the above has been tried and not made any difference

The freezing problem is not exclusive to the In-play Trader screen as it also happened when he was using the ladders to pre-off scalp.
He previously said "closing some tabs on my browser seemed to help". That very much sounds like a resources (CPU / memory) issue to me - but if somehow it is not, it is certainly an issue local to him with his set-up.
Scotty - do you leave your computer on 24/7 or do you close it down at night and also re-boot during the day?
You also said you are using a wired (ethernet) connection. What category cable are you using and how long is the ethernet cable?
What refresh rate are you using? Have you tried changing (slowing) the refresh rate and what is the outcome when you slow it down?
...he has already said he is using a super fast wired connection.
Forgot he said it was already wired in the op, so if that's still the case then that step can be missed out
Excluding issues with BF freezing falls into two catagories 99.5% of the time
1) If the software is unresponsive and everything has frozen that indicates a CPU/Memory issue
2) Providing you can scroll the ladder bars and open new windows like charts, market selection, guardian etc, that indicates a loss of connection as the software is still responsive just no updates from BF are arriving
Pre 23rd when the prices stopped updating his software was unresponsive and totally freezing (it would then catch up with it self a few seconds later) hence that will have been a CPU issue
He then said after closing some browser tabs everything has been ok for a week or so
Yesterday when the prices stopped updating the software was still responsive as he was still able to scroll the ladders open windows etc
hence on this latest occasion that points at something on the connection side

...as you are running Betfair live video and a drone feed connection, if not a CPU / memory issue it could be a GPU issue. Without knowing the FULL spec of your set-up it is hard to know, but it is almost definitely a local hardware problem.
Thanks to both for trying to help sort this for me.
Yeah it's very strange, I had a total of 4 tabs open on Microsoft edge, 2 being Betfair (1 live video) and the other 2 a horse racing stats website. Plus Parsec to use the drone feed which obviously I keep open all the time.
I closed the tabs and just left Betfair video open and it seemed to fix the problem when using the one click screen and the in play trader. Had no issues for 4 or 5 days when trading all day doing that.
Like I said, yesterday I used the ladders for the first time in ages doing some pre race trading and almost instantly the problems came back, freezing on two separate occasions. During this freeze the Betfair video was still streaming and I didn't see any "disconnected" in red at the bottom of the bet angel screen.
I am using a 2 metre (I think?!) wired cable connected to Virgin media and getting around 900m download speed when doing a test. Not sure exactly what the cable type is but it's quite a good one and was highly recommended when I purchased it.
My refresh rate is 20ms. During one freeze I actually had enough time to go up to the refresh rate, change it to 40ms to see if that fixed anything but it didn't. I changed it back to 20ms and then a few seconds later the ladders came to life again.
I'm using a Dell I5 laptop with SSD, if you need anymore info on the specs let me know.
Also I don't shutdown the laptop, just close the lid. I close Betangel and log out as soon as the last race has finished for the day. Laptop is probably on from 2pm to 8pm every day.
I'll try some more ladder trading tonight if possible and see if the freeze continues to happen.
It is very odd. I would be surprised if it's related to my connection tbh and I never have any issues when in play with the odds or streaming video and drone pictures.
