Hello everyone,

I’m fairly new to trading on Betfair and have started using automation software to help me along the way, but I still have quite a few questions about optimising my performance. I’ve made some progress, but I’d be keen to know how you all tweak your strategies when the market shifts. Are there any tips or tricks you swear by to react faster to market changes?
I’m also using automation quite a bit to monitor markets in real-time, but sometimes it feels like my settings aren’t quite giving me the right results. Has anyone figured out a good way to make the most of Guardian or similar tools to spot live trading opportunities more effectively?
And, for those with a bit more experience, how do you manage the psychological side of trading, particularly when things don’t quite go as planned? It feels like keeping your emotions in check is just as important as the strategies themselves.
Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated!

Cheers in advance!

Don't try to react fast. Allow a statistically significant number of markets to accumulate or you'll just get pulled around by short term varience.

Don't lean to heavily on market totals and instead look at how the underlying bets are performing. Every losing strategy will still probably have bets with a side/price range/timeframe which are profitable.

Trying an idea or strategy is like buying a ticket to a prize draw. You don't expect them all to win ( and most don't) but if you keep an eye on the cost vs the prize then when you find a good one it should pay for all the losing tickets you bought.

I agree with Shaun.

If it is your first week here you probably shouldn't be trying to fine-tune things.

Thanks for your advice. So I’m taking note and will try not to rush things. Thanks again.
