No.
He'll get his federal funding for SpaceX pulled. Taxes credits for Tesla gone (which i think is in the big orange bill anyway) and then probably deported if he really presses. He's a civilian. Who no one trusts and floats insane conspiracy theories.
Happy for someone to educate me on what power he has outside of hitting the off switch on Starlink and not letting the US gov us his rockets?

He could also move / start up businesses in various states to gain influence...
Plus they all know that the resources he can put behind the next Rep candidate he selects will be pretty hard to go against. Suspect that's why Vance is cacking his pants & trying to play nice...
(not trying to start an argument, just guessing here...)
I think the main issue is the ego v the narcissus, In the long run, Musk represents a different kind of challenge to Trump, rather than a traditional political or real estate rival, a tech titan and media baron with vast populist appeal. Musk’s ability to mobilise public opinion and resources outside the established party structure is unprecedented. For Trump, this means that his leadership is no longer uncontested. Through his media presence and ownership of X, Musk possesses a voice that can drown out Trump’s voice, setting narratives and commanding an audience of millions.
Son Trump must now navigate a world in which another massive persona commands the loyalty of many of the same voters and has the means to amplify or counteract Trump’s every move/lie. This is even before he switches sides and starts funding anti Trump candidates, or worse still removes all his funding from the Republicans.
I reckon this will simmer away for a couple more weeks, threats and dummies thrown at each other, then either Musk will get deported by ICE, or a quiet amicable agreement will be brokered. in the meantime its a case of get the popcorn in and watch them burn each other....

I don't disagree with anything you've said in general. I was more talking about the short term though. The bill is probably going back to the house floor regardless of what he does. What specifically do you mean by funding GOP senators to vote against his bill though - how, step by step, would this happen? As for supporting the next candidate. I agree, he'll throw a bunch of money behind someone.sionascaig wrote: ↑Sun Jun 08, 2025 3:41 pmStart providing support (money) to the rep senators prepared to vote against Trumps budget bill?JuiceyJones wrote: ↑Sun Jun 08, 2025 1:12 pm

He's tried to start up biz in other states before and failed miserably outside of production for Tesla/SpaceX. Which is what he obviously does best. The giga factory in upper NY state is an example of this. Americans do have a short memory though.
As smart and as rich as he is this is the guy that sent vials of his semen to financial social media influencers in the mail in an effort to procreate a super race. Also the guy who's reaction to a bill hiking up the deficit (cause thats never happened before) was to go on a tweeting tirade within minutes accusing a sitting president of being a pedo. Does not seem like well thought out or logical thinking.
Fantastic at production and manufacturing. Maybe the best in the world. Seems like he's working well out of his circle with everything else. I am bias though. Never liked the guy.
