Hi all,

I understand that TPD (Total Performance Data) is primarily used for in-play tracking, but I’m wondering if there’s any way — either through automation, custom columns, or external integration — to display key performance metrics from a horse’s last race (or recent races) such as:

Stride length

Stride frequency

Cadence fluctuations

Velocity fluctuations

…directly in the one-click screen for the current markets.

My goal is to use these historic in-play data points as an additional layer of form analysis before the race starts, ideally seeing them for each runner side by side.

Has anyone found a method to extract or display this kind of historical TPD data within Bet Angel, or is this something that would require external scripts or integration with TPD’s raw data?

TPD is a data company. It was set up to monetise data revenue for racecourses, so you can't plunder their riches without handing over some cash.

Of course, you can model data using Bet Angel for your own internal use, but if you want to access the treasure trove of historical data from TPD, then you'll need to buy it from them.

Now that the low sun has disappeared just in time for the closing NHF race at Wexford, perhaps just for fun they should add back in all the hurdles missed in the 19:13 and 19:38 hurdle races?

There was a hurdle race in Victoria this afternoon and a mob of about a dozen or more kangaroos took off racing down the course proper while the hurdle race continued on the hurdle track in the infield.

Kangaroos are often a major problem in racing on country tracks as they are an obvious danger to horse and jockey. Many a race has been delayed while they scared them away from a dangerous spot.

For sure. They are a national pest to the farmers, chewing crops and shit. Plus they love jumping unexpectedly in front of your car at dawn or dusk and smashing the shit out of your front end and radiator

Tourists love them, city folk never see them and the country folk despise them

What’s your approach with a photo finish James?

For the close finishes, learn the finish line angles for the pan camera view, and practise practise practise. The value is in calling it correctly before the slo-mo is shown.

For the very close finishes learn the finish line angles for the slo-mo cam view. They aren't all exactly in-line and they can slightly change position from meeting to meeting.

Before slo-mo is shown; bet relatively small between prevailing back and lay prices. You'll normally get matched.

After slo-mo is shown; if you have no doubt of the winner and no reason to suspect possible stewards enquiry then hammer the winner at 1.01 for as much as you dare.

Beware of photo prices that look too good to be true. Often indicates the market has spotted something that may cause a stewards enquiry.

BFL feed running about 6 secs greater than usual latency at Brighton in the 14:45. Could similarly affect other races there this afternoon.
