A quick question on dutching/bookmarking

I am unsure what I am doing wrong!!!

Let's say as an example I want to dutch the 3rd, 4th and 5th favourites for a target profit of £100 and I back the first & 2nd favs also but I am prepared to lose £35 on the 1st & 2nd favs (by altering the target profit).

I then go to the bookmaking application and lay the 1st & 2nd favs at say 1.50 for a target profit of £35 to cover the cost of the back price i am prepared to lose.

If either of the 1st or 2nd won, I would have thought my lay stake would have to have been taken to hit 1.01!

Am I being stupid?
