Today's Football
Last season Arsenal only won 9 out of 26 against teams above the bottom 6..... So thumpings against lesser sides should be expected ...next 4 matches tells us if they are more than flat track bullies.... Next Sunday is massive already. The Arsenal strictly come corners set piece thing could change football like the 3 pointer has changed basketball.
Looks like the premier league trophy lift in May will have red ribbons ... Merseyside or North London? Going early.
Anyway come on Tommy Fleetwood 66ish today sets you up nicely.

Blue is the colour, football is the game
We're all together, and winning is our aim
So cheer us on through the sun and rain
'Cause Chelsea, Chelsea is our name
Here at the Bridge whether rain or fine
We can shine all the time
Home or away, come and see us play
You're welcome any day, hey
Blue is the colour, football is the game
We're all together, and winning is our aim
So cheer us on through the sun and rain
'Cause Chelsea, Chelsea is our name
Come to the Shed and we'll welcome you
Wear your blue and see us through
Sing loud and clear 'til the game is done
Sing Chelsea everyone, oh
Blue is the colour, football is the game
We're all together, and winning is our aim
So cheer us on through the sun and rain

The luck is already with Liverpool ... main challengers to play Champions without 3 first choice players!
I saw an interesting stat on screen during yesterday's match ... "Since the 2023/24 campaign, the Gunners have scored 33 goals from corners. No other Premier League team has more than 20 in that time, while Arsenal also have 10 more corner goals than any other major team in Europe." ... My question is if they have that much advantage why haven't others copied them?
And talking of changing football when I was a lad to win the league they would say you needed to win all your home games and draw all your away games. When it was 2 points for a win and 22 teams that would give you 63 points and in the post WW2 years the winners of the league on average fell 3.89 points short of that 'target' with only 6 winners out of 35 gaining 63 points or more. Then for the 1981/2 season it changed to 3 points for a win pushing the 'target' up to 84 points with 9 out of 14 champions gaining 84 points or more and exceeding the 'target' by 1.86 points on average. For 1995/6 when the league was reduced to 20 teams and the 'target' to 76 points. In the 8 seasons 1995/6 - 2002/3 period the champions exceeded that target by 5.88 points with 7 out of 8 winners equalling or exceeding the 76 point 'target' ... the money was starting to take hold and an ability gap developing. The gap increased to 13.68 points on average from the 2003/4 season onwards with 29 of those 30 winner's exceeding the 'target' with the trophy being shared among the 'big 5', Leicester being the only 'outsider' whereas in the 30 years prior to 1995/6 it was shared among 10 teams. Money, money, money must be funny, in the rich man's world

We are halfway through the decade and only 2 different teams so far.....expecting 3 or 4 so still time for others to step up. I think the 60s had 8 different league winners.
Monaco had a good solution to Arsenal's strictly. They put 3 men up the pitch which Arsenal had to cover so less bodies in the box and less confusion.
Having Gabriel Rice Saka Jover is a potent mix. Think other teams spend more time on the training ground trying to play the beautiful game rather than being Stoke 2.0

The former Manchester United defender has quit TNT after a decade's service to focus on making YouTube videos in which he says “geezer” a lot, hawking branded snapbacks and chilling with his family.
