Old Trafford is looking very slippery and waterlogged now.

Arsenal defence very poor with City's goal. The pass on to Haaland was obvious, you could see it coming but two defenders shared playing the ball rather than the play. And why don't they don't use Martinelli's speed in that fashion more often with a good old fashioned Bolton ball over the top! :D

Not sure about the initial drift, but the news that Lamine Yamal had won the Kopa trophy seemed to push his price out and Dembele's back in.

Crap markets as usual

But these awards should get a bit more competitive now that Messi and Ronaldo are washed and outta the picture

What amazes me is the efficiency of the hoovering as the winner is revealed, and why anyone would leave money sitting in the market as the announcement approaches.

It's mainly why these never attract any liquidity, that's where the fast pix boys get a lil bonus, easiest thing you can do on the Exchange is hoover up a bit of free money

Some still do it on things like tennis or basketball etc... I used to do it on footy on ocassion

I’ve hoovered in smaller, niche markets as well (without the aid of fast pics). While I’m not particularly proud of it, if there’s unprotected losing money on the ladder it would take a very principled individual to leave it alone.

At least the Ballon d’Or seems free from pre-announcement leaks. There was the big swing on Vinicius jnr last year because he didn’t attend the ceremony, but Rodri only got down to 1.01 the moment the announcement was made, just like Dembele tonight.

You might as well take it, if you're waiting for news anyways like I was

The award itself is just a silly popularity contest that skews recognition away from the actual best player and toward whoever shines most within the most successful team

Never analyzed it at any depth but there seems to be a European bias with a bit of inherent racism sprinkled on top... for example soon as PSG knocked out Liverpool a player like Salah can't win it anymore because he doesn't pass the eye test like Dembele does, and because he's Egyptian
