True - Although as Theresa May is a champion of political correctness within the Tory Party, they won't come down as hard on her as they would if someone like John Redwood were Home Secretary!

Maybe the reason the Beeb didn't write too much about the fact that Italy's bond yields are still sky-high is because they don't want to admit that Bercluconi's replacement with an ex-EU left winger hasn't really improved matters...

This is what the Telegraph write about Mario Monti, aka Super Mario:

As EU competition commissioner a decade ago he battled Germany into retreat over subsidies for the Landesbanken and forced France to break up its electricity monopolies.

He stunned Washington by fining Microscoft €497m (£426m) for abuse of dominant position and blocking the $45bn (£28bn) GE-Honeywell merger, the world's biggest up to that date, after it had already been approved by the Justice Department, as if to say the Americans were failing on the job.

It was Super Mario who turned the EU into a global super-regulator.

Euro crisis 'opportunity for UK' to reclaim powers - PM http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-15730084

The Euro crisis could mean massive unemployment and rampant inflation, both in Europe and the UK.

It's not an opportunity!

The Mayor of a Greek town visited a twinned Italian town.

When he saw the palatial mansion belonging to the Italian mayor he wondered how he could afford such a house.

The Italian said; "You see that bridge over there? The EU gave us a
grant to build a two-lane bridge, but by building a single lane bridge with
traffic lights at either end this house could be built".

The following year the Italian visited the Greek town. He was simply amazed at
the Greek Mayor's house, gold taps, marble floors, it was marvellous.

When he asked how this could be afforded the Greek said; "You see that bridge over there?"

The Italian replied: "No."

Mario Monti spells out his attitude towards business:

'I am the Saddam Hussein of business.'

Just what you need in an economic crisis...

This is the Telegraph's take on it:

'The interim prime minister and advisor to Goldman Sachs made the extraordinary comparison in a speech to the Italian Parliament amid fears he will favour business interests. He insisted he had defied US power while at the European Commission. During his time in Brussels, the steely Monti took on - and won against - US corporate giants Microsoft and General Electric over breaches of European competition laws.

Comparisons between the deposed Iraqi leader and technocrat Monti are, of course, ludicrous. Saddam was elected.'

It's obviously massively worrying, but I'm also getting concerned that we are starting to lose control of our own destiny

Some of the stuff coming out of Germany & Brussels at present, makes me want the UK to resign from the EU and start fighting our corner like the proud nation we used to be. I fear we've become politically spineless in Europe. We're OK globally when we are hiding behind the USA, but in our own territories we've become a bunch of jellybacks

Churchill must be spinning in his grave!

The problem Cameron faces is that quitting the EU, or even offering a referendum, would cause the Lib Dems to reach for the nuclear option.

And based on the latest polls, that would probably mean a Labour government, which doesn't bear thinking about!

So Mr Cameron is stuck between a rock and a hard place...

that's a good graphic.

Ireland - €390,969 foreign debt per person!

The UK comes 2nd with just €117,580 foreign debt per person!

I think UKIP need to find some wealthy benefactors.

They strike a chord with many people in this country, but just seem to lack the necessary financial platform to create more noise.

However, they find they are always swimming against the tide. The Tories are eurosceptics at heart, which means most people will always turn to them in general elections, and anti-establishment voters who are against immigration will look towards the more rowdy BNP

He's an interesting guy though Nigel Farage, his brutal honesty makes refreshing politics

Le Tiss as a critique in Uk politics is somewhat simplistic, but Mr Farage has some very good points.

If you want a simple analysis rather than the 30pages i could give you.
Tories, look after the rich and influenciallly powerful
libs, have shown they will do ANYTHING for power, even betray their own grass roots support
Lab, Tories with red ties on (these days)
ukip, great on europe carp on most everything else
BNP, nutters

the majority of politicians are corrupt, or at best very out of touch with their constituents concerns, and cant represent them adequately because their lives are now so far removed from the voters reality.

we have no leaders or leadership, and no long term policies from our gov that most people agree with.

In short at a time of national need we dont have anyone or any party anywhere near able to carry the people with them.
