Afternoon all - the subject line says it all, really. After I've imported a rule it won't show up anywhere until I've restarted Bet Angel. Closing/reopening Guardian alone has no effect.
I've only imported a couple of times, as I'm paranoid that I might miss some setting in a downloaded file resulting in something running away with me, but there are some nifty display-based files that I'd love to add. It's not always convenient to restart BA, though.
Is there some way to force BA to re-check the Automation folder?
Imported Guardian rules not available until BA restarted
Well, I've probably just wasted your time, Apologies.
Having reopened Guardian, there they are. I realise now that I posted mine assuming that reopening Guardian would make no difference, because that is the behaviour that I'd noticed before. Anyway, they're there now.
I can definitely confirm that they didn't appear without closing/reopening Guardian, though. When working on rules, I move those of no interest out of my automation folder to ensure that I'm working on the correct ones. Only having 5 rules in there prior to the import, there's no way that I could have missed them before. The imports were standard *.BAF files, ones that have been kicking around on here for yonks.
Sorry for time-wasting, but appreciate the typical lightning response, thanks.

Are you importing them correctly using the 'import a rules file' option in Guardian, or just pasting them into the Bet Angel 'Automation' folder?noseve wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 4:18 pmWell, I've probably just wasted your time, Apologies.

Hi - Initial download straight down into my automation folder, then import using the Guardian facility you describe.
Usually, I use separate instances, each with their own dedicated logs/automation folders, but this afternoon the logs weren't important, so I simply used the SHIFT+open BA to open the second instance, therefore sharing the same folders. Nevertheless the behaviour was identical in each instance.
As a matter of interest, I have also just changed the list display to add the new data and created a new market selection filter, but despite saving them both in the usual way neither was then available in the second instance. This time, not even after restarting Guardian. As neither affects any bet placing, I was obviously happy with just recreating the settings, although even then I did make sure to copy everything precisely.
I'm certainly no Bet Angel expert, but I have been running an IT company for 30 years so am literate enough and usually capable of diagnosing most issues. This afternoon I'm working upon a Windows 11 laptop, the only remotely non-mainstream software on it (apart from BA itself) being Sophos anti-virus software, although it hasn't thrown up any alerts.
Anyway, no big deal as far as I'm concerned, but should the reason for this come to light I shall post here.

I'm going to guess the issue is that the import function only works on the instance you used to import the file.noseve wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 5:26 pmHi - Initial download straight down into my automation folder, then import using the Guardian facility you describe.
