The shortlist is out:

Rory McIlroy 1.75
Lando Norris 4.2
Chloe Kelly 7.6
Luke Littler 20.0
Ellie Kildunne 110
Hannah Hampton 140

I like the look of Chloe Kelly to win at 7.6.

Following the Lionesses victory in Euro 2025, the form suggests she's the obvious choice:
> The last four SPOTYs have all been won by women.
> Two of those four were Lionesses
> Lioness, Beth Mead, won in 2022 after winning the 2022 Euros.

Add that she's the clear front runner for female votes, whereas the male vote might split between Rory, Lando, and Luke.

Surprised to see over £500k matched already.

Luke Littler may shorten if he retains his Darts title?

Luke Littler should win, but won't as the British Bullshit Corporation don't show darts.
It doesn't matter if he retains his title as you won't know that till after SPOTY has finished
Out of the rest, for me Rory is the clear winner. All Lando Norris did was sit in a car.
People are getting fed up of the WOKE culture so that leaves kelly, hampton and kildunne out.
Yes Kelly is good at what she does, but what she does can be beaten by a team of 15 year old boys.

All Rory did was spoil a good walk and the BBC don't show walking.
Darts is not even a sport - it's a pub game.
etc, etc...

There are arguments for and against everyone on the shortlist.

Rory is respected and would be a deserving winner, but remember Hamilton had almost double McIlroy's vote in 2014 (209,920 v 123,745) and that year McIlroy won 2 of the 4 Golfing Majors (The Open and PGA Championship), won the PGA Tour Event at Wentworth, was European and PGA Tour Player of the Year, and ended as World #1.

Hannah Hampton won the Domestic Treble with Chelsea in 2025 (13/22 Clean Sheets)
Hannah Hampton was Player of the Match in the Euros QF and in the Euros Final
Hannah Hampton was voted BBC Women's (Worldwide) Footballer of the Year 2025
Hannah Hampton won the Ballon d'Or Yashin Trophy 2025

Chloe Kelly is an Arsenal & England substitute.

The BBC will have already decided who they want to win and the programme will be produced and edited accordingly. If I was getting involved, I’d be investigating potential angles there over sporting achievements. That’s exactly how Strictly Come Dancing has panned out this year, funnily enough with another lioness heading into the final.
