Hi all, can anyone please advise what 'Rule Type' I should choose, when using the 'Market Status' condition.
I want to check the market is open before other rules are actioned.
Many thanks...
Market Status Condition
You can add a condition/s to any rule type, so you’d just put it on the rule/s you want it to control
However for what you want you don’t need the ‘Market Status’ condition because rules can only trigger if the market is open
The Market Status condition would only need to be used if you wanted to trigger rules while a market is suspended or closed

Many Thanks Dallas.
I had an instance during the recent cold spell, where a Meeting was abandoned and automation looked like it still placed the bets, I appreciate any stake would have been refunded or voided, by Betfair, but thought it would be cleaner to pop in a condition to ensure the market was actually open before any automation took place. Would the condition 'Market Status > Open' not achieve this?

When Betfair get news of an abandoned meeting they will turn the races into suspended. Once it's confirmed the races will not be run within the next three days they will close the market and all matched bets will then be cancelled.
It's not possible for bets to be placed when the market is suspended or closed.
If the bet was placed that means the market was still open, so adding a condition to test the market is open wouldn't make any differencesledomseen wrote: ↑Mon Jan 05, 2026 4:24 pmMany Thanks Dallas.

Once a meeting is abandoned Betfair will close the market and no further bets can be placed, but there might be a small period of time between the announcement from the course that the meeting is called off and Betfair actually closing it and voiding any bets

Many thanks both, I understand now why the condition is not necessary.
