1.44

If pre-off, could be someone placing an in-play order at 1.50 (or something nearby), using automation, knowing their 1.44 is first in the queue for a fill, then, with momentum, it greens up at 1.44.
If they had put the 1.50 back in first, the software would match at the highest odds available at the time. That would defeat the point as the market momentum hasn't begun yet.
If the back order never gets matched at 1.50. then the Lay 1.44 just cancels automatically for a no trade, then on with next race.
Just guessing by the way..

True, Just wondered if there was a technical reason that I didnt know about? All the money dissapears when the market goes in-play too...oddjamesedwards wrote: ↑Sat Jan 10, 2026 11:26 amThe only person that actually knows is the guy putting the money up.

Ok, so the in-play example wouldn't apply in that instance if the order disappeared at the off.Goobs wrote: ↑Sat Jan 10, 2026 11:42 amTrue, Just wondered if there was a technical reason that I didnt know about? Likely goes back to the fat finger theory. Someone mistakenly clicks £xx @1.40, some of the 1.44 is taken, then their automation springs into life to trade out at a value prices,

It's not £8k per runner, it's £3.5k per race.
There are tons of reasons why you might do this. It's just not worth trying to 2nd guess it. Whether you can you leverage it, is the only question you should be bothering with.
How'd you get to 3.5k??
Its the liability from a £7700 lay bet @ odds of 1.44 (the exact amount is £3388)Goobs wrote: ↑Sat Jan 10, 2026 12:35 pmHow'd you get to 3.5k??
Only one horse can win so worst case they'd lose £3388 if none of the other bets were matched
