As of 1 April 2026, Chelmsford City Racecourse has been forced to cancel all immediate fixtures after the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) refused to grant a new operating license. The decision follows the previous license holder, Great Leighs Estates Limited, being placed into administration.

Real shame these markets are light but liquidity decent especially on a Friday night.

Yeah, it was mentioned on today's horse racing thread.

I made my biggest ever loss on that track, so in a sort of schadenfreude moment, I sort of wish that it would get erased. But obviously I don't really mean that.

My biggest ever loss was at Golden Gate Fields (thanks TPD) and that track is now defunct.

Apparently there is new management 'Golden Mile Racing' but the BHA have refused their application for a licence.

Sry to hear that Euler am sure you have drawn it back 10 Fold i done a few pounds on that track but it became my evening friend over time

BHA probably not wanting more bad publicity for racing if the same people bankrupt the racecourse 3 times in a row.
