US Masters 2026
Rory picked up a back injury and withdrew from a tournament recently and skipped some other tournaments in preparation for the Masters, so it'll be interesting to see how he is when he tees off. He looked absolutely fine in the Par 3 contest yesterday.
Scottie Scheffler's wife had a baby recently, so I don't know if Scottie is getting enough sleep.
John Rahm is second favourite, which surprised me, as his form has been good on the LIV tour. Not sure if that translates to here.
If Bryson can keep his temper under control, then he'll surely be in contention. Not really a course you can bully.

Game on.
Happy to take on Rory. Maybe Scottie .... That leaves Rahmbo and Bryson 12.5 and 14. That leaves enough wiggle room for cover later maybe Cameron Young. Hopefully not Scottie. Would be expensive if he is lurking.
What a weekend of sport coming up.
Grand National. Premier League returns. Paris-Roubaix. Masters.

Another recent sick note, be aware that Collin Morikawa withdrew from the Players with a back injury and hasn’t been seen on a golf course since. If he tees off and pulls out back bets will be settled as losers.
Good luck, chaps.

Asked Grok for an update.
Monday, April 6: He played a nine-hole practice round (the back nine) alongside Scottie Scheffler and Cameron Young. He focused mainly on chipping and putting, walking the holes without hitting full shots or tee balls on some holes (e.g., he skipped a full tee shot on the 16th). He also went through a warmup session and hit a limited number of balls on the range (around 54 balls, with his longest drive at 284 yards).
Tuesday, April 7: He was again on the course, with reports and photos showing him chipping to greens (e.g., No. 2) and playing bunker shots (e.g., on the 7th). Activity was still eased in, but there are indications he began ramping up slightly.
Later in the week (including Wednesday, April 8): He continued practice-round activity, including hitting balls at the practice facility. Reports noted he was "taking it day by day," with his back feeling better but other parts of his body not fully cooperating, leading to a modified game plan (avoiding certain shots he might have hit in past years).
Overall, these were not full, unrestricted practice rounds like a healthy player would typically do. Morikawa described it as a "work in progress" and a mental battle to trust his body, emphasizing he couldn't push it. His team indicated activity would increase over the days, and he was still planning to compete in the first round (teeing off Thursday at 10:19 a.m. ET with Hideki Matsuyama and Russell Henley).

Peter, did you trade all four days of the Texas Open last week? I saw your two-day warm-up green on X. I was cursing your name, if I’m honest. I found that market impossible on the opening day, so much so that I prepared (then deleted) an embittered “Is anyone else trading this for pennies?” post for the forum.
Sunday, in contrast, was brilliant, I thought, but a long, long day as the players caught up after Saturday’s weather delay.

The smaller tournaments can be really weak in play in terms of liquidity, so you often have to wait till the last few days, where the money is concentrated at the front of the field, to make anything decent, in all honesty. You don't tend to get that problem in the majors, but in the tournaments around them it can be difficult.Lynskey888 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2026 10:26 amPeter, did you trade all four days of the Texas Open last week? In previous years, I've never traded tournaments in or around the majors, but I've decided to make the exception this year. I think I've got an angle that can help me.
Augusta is five hours behind us, so if you look at the tee times, just add five hours. The official pairings on the Masters site do have the BST times on them: -
