Its just a fabulous event - a few oddities I picked up from various sources.

A winner's master's jacket was found in a thrift store (pawn shop) about 40 yrs ago. It was from a genuine winner - they are all tagged etc. The buyer paid $3 for it - sold at auction for a v great deal more. ike $60k if i recall.

Some 800 media staff cover the event. U can go into a free draw, which 3% get to play on the Monday after the event. They say its one of the only ways u would ever get to play.

A guy got arrested for trying to take away a cup of sand from one of the bunkers in a beer cup.

7 under will be good enough tonight for the lead.

Morikawa started. Quite keen to see how he's playing because surely if he's injured he has to be a lay.
Unfortunately he's holding it together fairly well considering. I've laid him not to make a top 20 finish so hopefully I can sneak out the back door on that one if he puts it in the water somewhere tomorrow.

I've made enough already on Rose and Fleetwood to order an extra topping on my pizza dinner tomorrow night :D

Great tournament... Rory is reminding me of Tiger in his prime, how many green jackets does a man need!

Bryson cost me. Rory on fire and has set a new record of leading by 6 after 36 holes. Pleased to see Justin still up there.

It would be lovely to see Justin Rose win the Masters. He's been so consistent there. Sort of feels like his time has gone though, but it's amazing to see him up there.

I had to retire early last night. I've been suffering from cold/flu symptoms this week and I just couldn't stick it out last night.

It's worth watching Rory's back nine on 'master.com/leaderboard' (if not aware, it's a free service in the UK, you can watch all players shots after they happen). It's the highest standard of golf I've witnessed in decades, the organisers said no one will shoot double figures as the greens are impossible. If he can maintain this standard will lead to a resurgence in the interest in the game, which the sport badly needs since Tiger rolled over - no pun intended. You'll be able to trade Rory hole by hole with massive liquidity as we once did with Tiger hopefully.

The thing to bear in mind about Rory's performance yesterday and anybody's out performance is that the most important shot is the approach shot. Putting has the most variability. In other words, if somebody putts well one day, they may not putt well the next day. It's not consistent, whereas approach shots are the best predictor of who's going to ultimately win.

Rory's driving off the Tee wasn't great yesterday, but ultimately that's the thing that matters the least if the rest is in place.

'War is' = 'Rory's' I guess? 😁

Using speech-to-text software, Peter?

I am. How could you possibly guess?

I'm far more productive using software like this than I am attempting to type, even if it does make the odd howler. Guess I'll have to add Rory to the dictionary.

I thought the market was a bit underwhelming on Thursday evening. Scheffler and Rose the only two players on course at the time attracting decent money.

Friday afternoon was similarly quiet with the first round late starters out early. That said, I’m roughly where I’d expect to be after two days. But it normally doesn’t feel like such a battle!

Cracking golf from Rory yesterday. Let’s hope he hasn’t killed the market two days early!

This is how significant Rory's lead is at this moment in time.
