Another 1.01 turnover. Mister Splash in the Fakenham 17:10 gets caught on the line after £6.1k traded at the minimum.

That's four in five days totalling £60k!

I'm actually gutted by that because I am due to profile the race course properly, and this was going to be my first chance to do it this season, so I'm really gutted by that.

Is it just me or did the style of that win in the 14.20 Ayr look a bit dodgy... Pleasington came from a furlong back and flew past the leading pack like it had just joined the race. Bizarre.

It happens. Horses run in very different ways, and here there was a pace collapse and only one horse ran on.

What annoys me is that I missed the £15 available to back at 110.0 when TPD showed it as the predicted winner. I had my mouse over the button but hesitated and clicked too late. No drone today at Ayr so TPD comes into it's own.

If you learn to understand the pace in a race, things will begin to make a lot more sense.

A bit of hindsight here, but, a runner that is having it's first run after a wind operation, (usually 2nd run is the best), along with wearing any headgear first time, suggests there will be an improvement.

Horses previously remember the discomfort of struggling for breath at the business end of the race. Once they realise, "actually I feel okay this time" (thanks to the wind op), they can get a second wind. Seems Pleasington did just that.

Because of it's poorer showings, the handicap market was easing.

Add in the mix, the combination of the champion jockey and a shrewd trainer that places his runners to win in winnable class races, surprises me it returned 6/1!

It's next run will likely be in a similar class race and it'll go off at 6/4.
