Just heard the Wales manager Gary Speed has died suddenly at 42

Can hardly believe it, he was a model professional who kept himself incredibly fit. No suspicious circumstances apparantely

:(

Sad News :( , It just goes to show you only see what people want you to see, he was on the tele laughing and joking yesterday.

Had a friend that killed himself few year back,
you just would never have guessed he was in such a bad place either, just good at hiding it i suppose :( .

Jeez, yeah it's now looking like he took his own life.

That's even more shocking

I hvae a good friend who had a tough time this time last year, got through it but is showing signs of stress again now. I have been talking to other friends and we have been trying to help a bit. After this news I will be sticking my nose in even more.

Good for you Sweety, I have a friend who has had suicidal tendancies and a lot of people turn away from them in that situation. Even though it can feel like a thankless task trying to help someone in that situation I've been told aftwards that it does make a big difference

Shame about Gary Speed. He always came across as a decent bloke

My ex-girlfriend lived in Bexhill, so we'd often visit Eastbourne, and in particular Beachy Head. It was beautiful there, but I was always shocked to see people walking along the clifftops, looking for lost souls who needed a chat. There's an area of little wooden crosses as a mark of respect to those who sadly jumped.

It just shows how fragile the mind is, and how we never know what people are thinking behind a smile

I had a mate who took his own life 12 months ago...none of us ever suspected anything. He was a real man's man and seemed as hard as nails on the outside...

horrible news.

i know we all say it after people have gone, but he really was a top bloke. a brilliantly committed footballer in true British style (and a fabulous header of a ball).

why did he do it....its a legitimate question,a man in the prime of life, succesful, good life, lots of cash, no known history of depression, obviously had a lot of friends. Its normal to ask why.
People will only start to guess and get it wrong and that is worse for his family, as a lot of the rumours will be hurtful.

Shocked to hear the news. You just couldn't have guessed there was a problem. He seemed very happy in recent interviews and Wales were doing well. Very strange and very sad. Had a decent career and seemed a pretty decent bloke. Pretty shocked to read this.
