The England team visited an orphanage in America today.

Last England warm-up match delayed due to heavy rain. Pitch looks atrocious.

I'm not sure I'd want any of my star players out in that.

Not a bad first quarter of the game tonight by England. Cannot argue with 82% possession. If you have control of the ball the other team cannot score. I have that strange tingly feeling of anticipation that England are going to do something in this world cup. Not sure what they are going to do, but they will do something.

...it's so easy to tear or tweak a knee ligament on a wet/heavy pitch when twisting and turning.

I still struggle to see why teams play out from the back. South Africa giving another good case in point.

Assuming I understand your point isn't it because statistically they are better than 50% going to retain possession rather than compete for what at best will be a 50/50 long clearance?

I didn't watch the game ... 3 red cards! What was the reaction to that?

I didn't see the first, but the last 2 were questionable, with VAR involved. Could easily have been 2 yellows. I hope that's not setting a precedent for the rest of the tournament
