Of course they are here. They always are here. They are just waiting to push something a certain way so everything else follows. They 25, 30k lay bets just go a lit bit less noticed. Hgodden your in my top 2 list of culprits (compliment)!

Lol I just meant the bomber. Of course the 'they' you're talking about are always here. The only time you wont see them is when the API is offline

The whole pre-race is just people trying to trick other people to take bad prices...that's all these bozos can come up with. I'm going to be coming back here with a huge bank soon, I promise you all I'm gonna make the mad bomber look tame. I intend to completely eliminate manipulation in the pre-race by giving everyone doing it an arse-whipping the likes of which they'll never recover from.

Lol,! Maybe thats part of the reason that betfair introduced the 60% tax to make it "betfair" again. I can see 80% soon.
I met a guy working for the racing post and the biggest player he knew was making 800k a year before tax pre horse race so you better come back with a lot of euros zenyatta!

Hgodden, shhh.. Everyone believes the bomber is a gambler and spends the racing season in dubai and just comes out to play in the winter months when the api is not over loaded!

Zenyatta, if you had the massive bank you promise. How would you intend to win? Would you use your bank to try and control peoples opinions or would you just gamble and double up and doubke up as your strategy suggests?

I don't mean to suggest doing anything unethical. I just want to ensure that the prices accurately reflect the actual chances of the selections winning (efficient markets). So I need to smash the market into shape to make sure all the prices are correct. Hint: The 'correct' prices are all the prices I will have determined in advance ;)

Go for it! I lack the courage and of course the bank to smash a manipulator when I see one, but I'm always tempted! I believe it would be a profitable strategy.

You often see it later in the day when the bombers pattern is set. All the traders are ready to jump on and bang someone takes the lot and the market go's crazy the opposite direction as all the traders scramble to get out! I often think it is one of the big boys trading it. Its potentially a huge winning trade (and super risky!) but its a massive game of how big is your bank thats above my bank size!

In response to those that were talking about hitting the spoofers..

I think that whoever is behind the manipulation is quite likely to be using pro handicappers themselves and are unlikely to be offering up prices that constitute anything like decent value. For instance say there's a large spoof back order at 4.6 (and they believe the 'true' price, the determining of which is highly subjective anyway, to be 5.0... so their idea is to spoof and then move the price to where it should be, but you lay their order at 4.6.

Assuming that 5.0 was the 'true' price you've still only acquired for yourself a very small amount of 'value' really, less than 10%, and taking into account commission and maybe pc, and the inherent risk involved, and the fact that maybe your original estimation of what is a 'true' price may not be completely correct....

I don't think it's sensible to just smash a manipulator from a trading perspecive either as they're likely just to build a wall of money behind the original price you took and will likely push the price further from where you want to go (has happened when I've tried it.) It may work in certain situations but you have to remember that whoever is behind it have extremely deep pockets, are happy to take on liability and may well have other advantages that normal traders do not have ;)

I think it's some big layers doing this, taking advantage of the sometimes huge % moves in price he causes. I've seen them take 15k at one price before and haven't subsequently traded out.
