Where are all the wasps & bee's...
Usually have 2 or 3 nests in garden but don't think I've even seen more than a handful of wasps so far this year...
edit - I blame the migrants...
Anyone growing tomatoes? (The Gardening thread)
Don't know about wasps, but the bees are being eaten by the Asian hornets.sionascaig wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 10:55 amWhere are all the wasps & bee's...

Just back from Fife holiday. Lots of flora and fauna but the red poppies we stumbled on were incredible. Definition of red.
Didn't even know yellow poppies existed.
They were bright orange on the seed packet. That was the appeal!
I guess they flower later in the fields of France.

The peas are absolutely huge this year, they're the size of spuds!

It's been a while on this thread but I've had a productive morning harvesting our sour cherries.
Far too hot the last few days so we lost about 5% to the heat and birds but that's an entire standard washing up bowl full. Not bad for a tiny tree bought from the local Co-Op for a tenner 3 years ago
They can't be eaten raw so I have cherry pie, cherry vodka, cherry liqueur and sour cherry jam planned. Washed and frozen for now
