I often wonder why great players try and come back past retirement age because it ruins the legacy somewhat.

Age works so much against you at the top level of sport.

Complete waste of a wildcard. I get the draw but if you're gonna show up unprepared playing like a NCAA DII player then you're going to get shown up. Joint average at very best. Not won a match since Jan (i think). Not the next coming of Christ as comms would have you believe. WC should have gone to a younger more deserving American. If she makes it through this round Eala could well double bagel her in the next.

In this case I just think Williams still wants to be relevant. When she was at her best social media coverage wasn't what it was now. That and is probably surrounded by yes people.

Never really in the match at any point apart from a brief spell. Most players retire in their early 30s, and it's just almost impossible once you're in your 40s to be able to compete at this level.
